343 Industries has already announced that it plans to offer the new major free content drop for Halo 5: Guardians in early April, and the team is ready to start slowly revealing the kind of new content that gamers will be able to play with.

The studio wants to introduce more weapons, skins, armors, helmets, assassinations and emblems, but the core of the DLC is a new and engaging Warzone map called Skirmish at Darkstar, which allows Spartans to try and take back the destroyed world while moving among its abandoned buildings.

At the moment 343 Industries is only offering access to concept images, with Josh Kao, the senior concept artist, adds, "For Skirmish at Darkstar, the team decided on having a derelict ship in the middle of the map on the mining planet of Meridian - which you can see to the left of the concept. I originally thought about having a space elevator in the concept, but we decided against it because there was already one in the campaign."

Ghosts of Meridian will also feature the first appearance of the Hannibal Mantis, with more details about its capabilities set to be offered closer to the moment in April when the DLC will be launched.

The next reveal about the content will be centered on the kinds of new REQ cards that players will be able to use.

The Halo 5: Guardians Warzone mode will get improvements soon

343 Industries says that it is aware of the wide variety of reports on kill farming and that it is exploring a variety of possible adjustments to game systems and rewards that should alleviate the problem.

Community-made maps for both Big Team Battle and Grifball are at the moment in testing at an internal team, and the studio plans to introduce them into future matchmaking updates.

343 Industries has also made playlists tweaks to the older Halo: The Master Chief Collection, consolidating game modes and expanding matchmaking criteria to make it easier for players to get into games.

According to the developers, they will continue to offer a free update every month for Halo 5: Guardians and they will add the much-requested Warzone Firefight game mode, which focuses on Player versus Environment action, during the summer of this year.

Microsoft is also using books and toys launched in 2016 to expand the universe of the Master Chief powered series, and a new video game announcement will probably take place at some point next year.
