'The Shape

As a precursor to the Academy Awards — less than two weeks away — Tuesday's Costume Designers Guild Awards honored such Oscar-nominated films in the costume category as The Shape of Water and I, Tonya, as well as Game of Thrones and Handmaid's Tale in the television categories. The 20th annual awards program, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, was hosted by Jane The Virgin star Gina Rodriguez.


As previously announced, Scandal star Kerry Washington received the Spotlight Award, renowned costume designer Joanna Johnson walked away witht he Career Achievement Award, and long-time cinematic jeweler and metalworker, Maggie Schpak, was presented with the Distinguished Service Award.


Tribute was also paid to Oscar-winning costume designer John Mollo (Star Wars, Gandhi), who died last October at age 86 and was posthumously inducted into the Costume Designers Guild Hall Of Fame.
