Kate Middleton Has Third Baby With Prince William

Today, the royal family officially welcomes its newest member. Kate Middleton, now technically known as The Duchess of Cambridge, gave birth to her third child, another boy and therefore a prince. Kensington Palace revealed the news this morning, noting the young prince was born in St. Mary's Hospital in London at 1101 hours, although his name has not been revealed just yet.

The news this morning indicates the child was "safely delivered" and the Duke of Cambridge, a.k.a. Prince William, was there to provide his support. Additionally, the palace notes the newest prince weighs 8 lbs, 7 oz., and that the royal highness and her newest child are doing well. Also, the Queen, Prince Harry, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Charles, Prince of Wales, and additional members of the royal family and Middleton's family have informed of the news and are delighted. The announcement comes from a statement delivered by the Kensington Palace on their social media accounts.

The newest prince joins his older brother, Prince George (4), and his older sister, Princess Charlotte (2), into Kate Middleton and Prince Williams' household. Neither George nor Charlotte were in the hospital during the baby's arrival, as George attended school and Charlotte stayed home at the Kensington Palace. The name of the child is not yet public, and it is expected to arrive --- along with our first look at the royal baby --- in the days to proceed. Though naturally, people around the world bet on the name and sex of the newest baby, and they'll walk away happy or disappointed, to say the least, by today's news.

Gamblers around the world believed the newest royal baby was going to be a girl named Princess Mary. Such beliefs, however, were proven false. There were betters, however, who believed the baby was going to be a boy, and Albert and Arthur are the most popular picks for the new child's name. The odds were placed at 5-1 and 9-1, respectively. There was also speculation that the baby was going to be a boy based on Kate Middleton's ongoing habit of wearing stunning blue outfits throughout these last nine months. It was a hunch that ultimately proved to be true, based on today's baby news.

The baby's due date wasn't known to the public, though it has been known for some time that the child was set to arrive in April. Indeed, the child just barely made it into the fourth month of the year. Deliberations were already in place last week for the newborn's delivery. Alan Farthing and Guy Thorpe-Beeston selected, once again, to lead the medical team delivering the baby. Farthing and Thorpe-Beeston were also on hand to deliver Princess Charlotte. Barriers and parking restrictions were also set in place for when Kate Middleton and Prince William finally decide to show the baby to the press, and therefore the world.
