The 1993 blockbuster Jurassic Park celebrates its 25th Anniversary this summer, and next month, you can see Steven Spielberg's epic adventure on the big screen, thanks to Fathom Events. This comes just a few months after the latest installment in this franchise, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom hit theaters, which proved the franchise still has plenty of bite at the box office, taking in $410.2 million domestic and $1.2 billion worldwide, from a $170 million budget. While Fallen Kingdom's numbers are still below its 2015 predecessor, Jurassic World ($652.2 million domestic, $1.5 billion worldwide), it proves there is definitely still an audience for the franchise.

Based on Michael Crichton's book of the same name, the original blockbuster took in over $357 million during its original theatrical run, with $45.3 million from the 3D re-release in 2013 bringing its all-time domestic total to $407.4 million. When adjusted for inflation, though, those numbers equate to an $849.3 million domestic total in today's market, which illustrates just how huge of a hit this 1993 classic was in its day. Now a new generation will get to explore Spielberg's adventure the way it was meant to be seen, on the big screen.

This re-release is happening through Fathom Events, which brings Jurassic Park back to theaters for three days only, Sunday, September 16, Tuesday, September 18 and Wednesday, September 19. Tickets are currently on sale through the Fathom Events website, which will include the theatrical debut of a "fan-made remake" of the movie. Fathom Events will roll this out in over 500 theaters across the country, which is certainly a sizable theater count, although it likely won't have any impact on the box office top 10 that weekend, since the first of its three-day rollout is on a Sunday.

While 2015's Jurassic World and this summer's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom have taken the franchise in new directions, fans were thrilled when it was confirmed that Jeff Goldblum would return as Ian Malcolm, which was followed by a massive Goldblum statue surfacing in London. It was also confirmed that the T-Rex from both Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is the same one from the original Jurassic Park. Fans will have to wait a few more years to see how Jurassic World 3 calls back to the original classic.

The Jurassic World movies have certainly instilled new life into the franchise, and while the original sequels (The Lost World: Jurassic Park 2 and Jurassic Park III) were considered substandard by many, the original Jurassic Park is still an indelible classic that revolutionized how movies were made. It will be intriguing to see how a younger generation reacts to this quarter-century-old film on the big screen, because they are used to visual effects and CGI that have rendered a lot of the work on Jurassic Park obsolete. Still, the work that was done on Jurassic Park helped pave the way for what effects houses can do today, and now fans can finally see all of that incredible work in a packed theater with fans, the way it was always meant to be seen.
