Since I discovered steam, that feels like a long time ago now, I've purchased more games than I used to be due to the ease of use, purchase and lack of clutter, as opposed to just torrenting everything. I remember not actually purchasing games before due to only being able to get a physical release.
Although not the topic, if you were talking about music, my beloved heavy metal, physical release all day long, it's not uncommon for me to have 3 versions of things, digital for ease of access from anywhere, CDs as cheap and cheerful and was the easiest way to buy band demos for the past 20+ years and then a vinyl copy for when I feel like just chilling and enjoying the music with nothing else going on except for some beers and maybe a couple of mates!
