Playstation was the first one setting high quality gaming standard to the large public and therefore enjoyed some kind off monopoly benefits for a long time. However, with the rise of the Xbox these benefits became less as Xbox did a very good job in offering a large variety of games and making it affordable to the large public. I think that strategy helped Xbox capture a large part of the playstation gaming market and thus causing Playstation to suffer. Nowadays, Playstation is coming back with good marketed values/benefits. I still do think their pricings are a bit on the high side, but that is my humble opinion ^_^ .

You just have to check the stock prices of both to see which company can invest the most in quality hardware. I would go for Intel unless AMD comes with a drastic innovative change. Which I don't really see coming since ASML is at the forefront of innovations in both their fields.

More than 1TB! Because of the pioneering upload-speed/price-ration in the Netherlands, I've been in a advantage for a long time. Nowadays they are offering even 400 Mbit/s upload speed for regular prices... A nice torrent-holiday tip guys ;)....

FLAC has higher quality, but isn't recognized by many audio hardware. I would stick with the universality of MP3's and do with the lower audio quality!

Higher screen resolution can save you time, especially when multi-tasking.. Though you do need glasses sometimes. :)
