  1. Kingdom Hearts 3 is releasing next year, giving longtime fans of the franchise the opportunity to see their favorite characters once more. However, newcomers to the franchise might have a hard time figuring out its story without playing the previous titles. The developers come in with the save, announcing that Kingdom Hearts 3 will include a recap feature to let new players know the whole story as they play. The news about the recap of the whole Kingdom Hearts story in the upcoming title comes from series director Tetsuya Nomura during a talk with VG247. According to him, there will be videos and more explaining the story before Kingdom Hearts 3, so that any newcomers don’t feel left out or drop the game due to lack of interest. He stated: We have included several elements in Kingdom Hearts 3 to explain the story and get newcomers up to speed the minimum required level of understanding, including a series of videos to explain the story so far at the start of the game. I would be delighted if people who played Kingdom Hearts 3 took an interest in the series overall and went back to play the previous games as well. Given the time that has passed after the release of the last Kingdom Hearts title, it is only natural for the developers to include that feature even for die-hard fans. Think of series you love and want to see more of but are forgetting bits of information about its story between the release of one to another. If the recap feature is implemented in Kingdom Hearts 3 in a continuous way, meaning that before a character drops in you get a cutscene about who that is, then there will be a big number of new players coming to the game just to experience it for the first time. This will add more playtime and satisfaction to all types of players. Kingdom Hearts 3 will launch on January 25, 2019, for PS4 and Xbox One.
  2. The official minimum and recommended system requirements for SoulCalibur 6 on PC have been revealed through the game’s Steam Page. Unfortunately, the good news comes with a bad one as well. SoulCalibur 6 on PC will use the Denuvo Anti-Tamper technology, a feature that has been highly criticized over the last year. Looking at the minimum system requirements, you can find out for yourself that SoulCalibur 6 On PC isn’t a light game and is not recommended for low-end PCs. The game uses 6GB of RAM and a minimum of 2GB of VRAM in order to run properly, which is a bad sign for low-end hardware players. Fortunately, the game doesn’t require a powerful processor, given the Intel Core i3 being the minimum for it to run. Here are the SoulCalibur 6 Official PC System Requirements: MINIMUM: Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system OS: Windows 7, 8.1, 10 (64-bit) Processor: Intel Core i3-4160 @ 3.60GHz or equivalent Memory: 6 GB RAM Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 DirectX: Version 11 Storage: 20 GB available space Sound Card: DirectX compatible soundcard or onboard chipset RECOMMENDED: Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system OS: Windows 7, 8.1, 10 (64-bit) Processor: Intel Core i5-4690 3.5 GHz or equivalent Memory: 8 GB RAM Graphics: GeForce GTX 1060 or equivalent DirectX: Version 11 Storage: 20 GB available space Sound Card: DirectX compatible soundcard or onboard chipset Moving on to the bad news now, SoulCalibur 6 On PC will use the Denuvo Anti-Tamper technology, a feature that Bandai Namco still supports. Given the history of the feature, we know that it hardly keeps the games it supports away from being pirated for a few hours or days at best. A bunch of publishers have already stopped using Denuvo given the rumored issues it sometimes causes to the performance of their games since it can’t 100% protect it from being pirated. Can your PC run SoulCalibur 6 On PC? Will you buy it regardless of its use of Denuvo Anti-Tamper or will you choose to play it on a console instead?
  3. An announcement for new and upcoming Soul Calibur 6 content has appeared, revealing that we’ll be getting at least one DLC character along with a story mode for the game. Players can expect to be able to buy Tira post-release, along with being able to play the “Libra Of Soul” story mode. Tira has often been in other Soul Calibur games before this one, and is notable not just for her perky attitude but for being armed with the very unconventional weapon known as a ringblade. Tira is one of the franchises’s villainous characters alongside much more wicked characters like Nightmare, and is one of the first fan-favorite villains to come after a wide variety of heroic characters like Sophitia and Mitsurugi have been announced. The game doesn’t come out for another two months, but Tira is the first bit of DLC Soul Calibur 6 content that’s been revealed for the game. Whether you pre-ordered or straight up purchase the game beforehand you’ll be able to buy her on day one, so there’s no real difference between it. Also coming with the new Soul Calibur 6 content is news of the Libra of Soul story mode, which is fitting among the multiple other fighting games that are getting actual story modes rather than arcade modes, especially over the game’s other story mode, which only has static images and dialogue rather than full cutscenes. Hopefully it can win praise for its story mode much like the last few Mortal Kombat games and other fighting games with well-regarded story modes. What makes the mode even better is that the story mode will also put the game’s guest character, Geralt of Rivia, into an actual role, to say nothing of the fact that players will also be able to use their own created character in the story mode. So, if you look forward to having a different story mode to play than what Soul Calibur usually offers, you can get all of this new Soul Calibur 6 content as part of the game when it releases for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC on October 19.

What’s your favorite Pokemon season and movie?
  5. World Of Warcraft: Battle For Azeroth has been released last week, bringing thousands of players back to the world of the Alliance and the Horde. The setting and content of the new expansion are so intriguing and exciting for both old and new players, that it is now reported to be the fastest-selling expansion ever released. According to Bussiness Wire, Battle for Azeroth’s first full day of launch on August 14, saw more than 3.4 million units of the latest World of Warcraft expansion sold worldwide. This is a new record for the franchise, which surpasses even the 2.8 million copies sold in the first 24 hours of Wrath of the Lich King. Before that, The Burning Crusade held the scepter of fastest-selling World of Warcraft expansion with 2.4 million within its first day. This is roughly 1 million less than what World Of Warcraft: Battle For Azeroth had. The new record for World Of Warcraft: Battle For Azeroth almost reaches the height of Diablo 3’s release day back in 2012, with 3.5 million copies sold. What’s interesting about all these numbers is that World of Warcraft isn’t a pay to play title. More than 3 million players right now have to pay their monthly fee to Blizzard in order to access their game, creating a staggering amount of revenue for the company. Did we expect that to happen? Yes. While the story of World Of Warcraft: Battle For Azeroth isn’t as deep as the Lich King’s, the “meaning” of it is more powerful. Players that have chosen to pledge their allegiance with the Alliance or the Horde now have to fight for their fight, giving a cause to all expansions combined. Even in the aspect of gameplay, World Of Warcraft: Battle For Azeroth has managed to keep players all over the world hooked to their screens, maxing one character after another and trying out all the cool new activities. People have thought that World of Warcraft is “dying”. They were absolutely wrong. This is its high peak and we can’t wait to see what Blizzard has in store for it in the future.
  6. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is getting a new map and new content, but it’s not the sort of content that you’ll be able to play regularly. In this case, it’s a PUBG training mode, where you can learn the basics of the game on a specific 2×2 map made specifically for that mode. Battle Royale games aren’t really the hardest thing to get into; you get on an aircraft as it flies across the map, jump when it’s over a specific spot, land, then run around grabbing weapons while trying to survive until you’re the last person on the map. While simple in its explanation, in execution some people might find it a great deal more challenging. There are a lot of factors in a Battle Royale game that can mean the difference between victory and defeat, and that’s the purpose of the PUBG training mode. Knowing the right gear to use, ways to conceal yourself, and a number of other things are key to you being able to get a chicken dinner in the game. The 2X2 map that will be coming along with the PUBG training mode will help you to learn all of these skills, as it includes a shooting range, a race track, a place to practice parachute landings, a melee range, a throwables range, and an area where you can practice close-quarters combat. In short, the new map has everything you need, and you can probably even still attack people, though whether it’s in a similar manner to the pre-game lobby where you can’t die, or more like an actual combat map (though likely not as being shot while you’re attempting to improve your skills would be quite annoying). Either way, you can expect the new PUBG training mode and its map to be coming out next month, on the PC at least.
  7. We’re still a ways off from when Cyberpunk 2077 comes out, but CD Projekt RED has some good news for us. Cyberpunk 2077 progress has made it to the point where the game is now playable from start to finish, so the game will hopefully be getting a release date sometime soon. Cyberpunk 2077 has been in development for six years according to the statement, and CD Projekt RED was proud to announce that it was playable. However, this doesn’t mean that the game is anywhere close to being released yet. The game is still missing a large number of assets, playtesting, and bug fixes, but the fact that it’s in a complete enough state that you can play through it is still a major gaming milestone. We haven’t really gotten any updates about Cyberpunk 2077 progress ever since the game was originally announced in 2013, and the game’s E3 2018 debut was the only real bit of news that we’d gotten about it since then, barring some statements that CD Projekt RED could finally focus entirely on that game with the end of the Witcher games. And considering how good that trailer from E3 looked, we’ll hopefully be getting some more gameplay of the game soon, whether at some other major gaming event this year, or during the next E3, either at the Xbox conference or some other one. E3 2018 also had the game get a doors-closed gameplay demo that only select people were allowed into, but CD Projekt RED said that that was a demo specifically put together for the conference, rather than being a statement on Cyberpunk 2077 progress. We don’t really have any idea of when the game will actually release, but what we do know is that the game will be available for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC. Hopefully the game will be just as high-quality as the critically acclaimed Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, if not higher.
  8. For Honor player numbers on Steam have suddenly skyrocketed now that the game has been released for free on Steam until August 27. The numbers have jumped from 5,000 players to 210,000, an increase of 42,000%. But whether it can still hold onto those new numbers remains to be seen in the future. The huge increase in players for For Honor is even eclipsing what the game’s numbers were at its former peak, a measly 71,000. Back in May when it promoted a free weekend For Honor was able to actually double its player numbers, but numbers were back on the decline soon afterwards, dropping to the former 5,000. For Honor previously came out back in February of last year, and despite a promising premise and a great deal of free content, rapidly lost players due to dodgy servers and repetitive gameplay. However, since then it’s gotten a great deal of new content including a revamped tutorial mode, new characters, and even some new maps. E3 has also given us a sneak peak on a good amount of new content that will be coming to the game in October, such as a new Chinese-inspired faction known as the Wu Lin and a new game mode called Breach, which focuses on players besieging a castle. While many players are likely getting into For Honor because it’s free, some might have held off on playing it until more content came and the Wu Lin and deal were what finally got them to download the game, causing For Honor player numbers to rise. For Honor player numbers will likely have another spike in October when the game gets its Marching Fire expansion that will bring the Wu Lin into the game, but whether or not the 210,000 can keep up for the next few months remains to be seen. You can currently still get For Honor for keeps on Steam for free, and the deal is available until August 27.
  9. Microsoft has revealed Xbox Scarlett, their next codenamed console to be released after Xbox One during this year’s E3. For now, we have no information as to what the new console will be like, however, Microsoft will still keep the satisfaction of customers a priority when it comes to its launch. Speaking with Dualshockers during Gamescom, Xbox Games Marketing General Manager Aaron Greenberg revealed what important lesson Microsoft will keep in mind while moving from Xbox One to Xbox Scarlett. He stated: “I think the biggest thing for any company is “never lose sight of the customer. Always put your fans first” If you think about them with every key decision you make, from every new product to every pricing decision, to every launch date, to just how you roll things out, if you put your customer first you’ll be all right. I think that’s the most important thing you can never lose focus on. I’m really proud that this leadership team that’s in place is the team that has been leading the business kinda post-Xbox One launch, and if you’re seeing what the team has done there around backward compatibility, around innovation with hardware, around things like the Elite controller, all the innovation, and so much of that comes from listening to our fans. It feels like they’ve been a part of that journey with us. We never want to lose that focus and I think that’s the most important thing as we think about this team and what guides us in the future.” Undeniably, Microsoft has been releasing new features and services for the Xbox to please customers since the release of Xbox One. With Xbox Game Pass and the Backwards Compatibility services, the company ensures that two large parts of the fanbase (budget and old-school gamers) will be pleased with what their consoles offer, services that will most likely move on the Xbox Scarlett as well. With Xbox Scarlett, Microsoft will push the console power to another level, introducing a streaming based device codenamed Scarlett Cloud as well as a new budget console to fill the gap between generations. What other feature would you, as a fan, want to see introduced with Xbox Scarlett?
  10. The fifth season of Fortnite is all about the rifts. We’ve seen them being added to the game as cracks in the sky last season, with a related mechanic being added in the game with the start of the new one, creating all new sorts of weird situations in the game. Epic Games is now releasing a Fortnite Rift-To-Go, a portable rift to use from your inventory, letting you shoot from the sky on command. Using Fortnite Rift-To-Go hasn’t been detailed yet by the company, however, we can already think of a few cool ways to use it. As reported by several sources, the Fortnite Rift-To-Go will be used in the same ways as the map rifts, teleporting you in the sky. From there on you can glide down to wherever you want. The new item has been revealed through the item shop with the label “coming soon”. We don’t know what soon means at this point, we expect the Fortnite Rift-To-Go to be a game changer for high skilled players. In the Fortnite: Battle Royale subreddit, community coordinator Sean Hamilton revealed the item just before the big announcement: “Are you a player on the go? Carry an escape plan in your back pocket with a new item making its way to Battle Royale! /popcorn emote”. In which way can the Fortnite Rift-To-Go be used effectively? We expect to see it as an escape method, letting you get out of dangerous situations. If your opponents don’t look up in the sky, you’re safe to move wherever you please. Additionally, the new teleporting item could be useful to players that are caught outside the safe zone, giving them more time to loot before they teleport back up and get into the game. Let’s hope that the Fortnite Rift-To-Go will be a legendary drop so that players won’t abuse it in-game. Unlike classic battle royale titles, Fortnite isn’t afraid to introduce all sorts of cool new mechanics, even if they seem unconventional at the time. That’s partly the reason why Fortnite is the most successful multiplayer game this year.
  11. An Xbox version of Hunt Showdown is coming to the Xbox Game Preview function, allowing players to play the early versions of the game alongside the PC version, enabling you to hunt otherworldly monsters in a variety of different maps in the backwoods of America back in the 1800s. Hunt Showdown was originally called Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age, but the gameplay remains the same, a team of players hunting down otherworldly beasts and all of the threats that come with them. Players take on the role of an order of hunters, whose mission it is to protect humanity, kill monsters, and sell the carcasses of their kills for profit. However, the monsters that you fight aren’t the only things that are going to be hunting you through the various places you walk. Other players will also be hunting the same monsters that you are, and there’s nothing stopping them from trying to kill you too, not helping that the game itself also has a permadeath mechanic. Right now the game doesn’t have very much content with it, with only a few enemies and only two bosses, but hopefully as the game continues to be developed, we’ll get more content and it will become a well-regarded multiplayer game. At the same time, however, there’s still no release date for the game, though the Xbox version of Hunt Showdown will hopefully be able to get some more content added in it that will make it a playable game that can gather a lot of multiplayer people involved, and hopefully avoid the same sort of situation that another monster-hunting game, Evolve, ran into when it released. Once again, we don’t know when the game will release, but hopefully you’ll be able to play an Xbox version of Hunt Showdown fairly soon. Otherwise you can buy it on the PC for around thirty dollars.
  12. Hairbrained Schemes has announced a new Battletech Flashpoint expansion at Gamescom, showing off a number of new mission types, new mechs, and new maps to fight on. The expansion is the first to come to the Battletech game since it released in April of this year exclusively on the PC. Battletech tells the story of the player character and their custom-built mercenary company as they help to free the Aurigan Coalition from the tyrannical government that overthrew its legitimate royal family. However, in order to do that, you have to gain more money and mechs through missions, and the Flashpoint expansion will help in this. The Battletech Flashpoint expansion includes a number of new mechanics. A new map biome, a Tropical one, allows you to send your mechs stomping around sunny beaches and alien forests. New Battlemechs, such as the Hatchetman, the Crab, and the Cyclops, each of which can perform different functions in battle. The titular mechanic, however, the Flashpoints, are the expansion’s main draw, being short, multi-mission stories that you’ll have to be careful in, as they don’t allow you to repair your mechs between missions, meaning that you’ll have to be very careful from mission to mission to keep your pilots and mechs operating. Finally, a new type of mission has also been revealed. The “Target Acquisition” mission type puts your mech lance in the role of a King of the Hill game, forcing you to capture three different target areas on a map in order to claim victory. The Battletech Flashpoint expansion is coming out in November, so you’ll have plenty of time to brush up on your mech skills before it comes out, especially if you’re still new to the game. If you’ve already beaten it, then you shouldn’t have any trouble. Battletech is currently available exclusively for the PC.
  13. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey isn’t even released yet, however, Ubisoft is already thinking forward. Unfortunately for some, there will be no new game for the franchise next year but we are all happy to see their next game being supported long-term as a service title. During GamesCom, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot pointed out one more time that Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be supported for more than its classic one-year life cycle, meaning that there will be no full-fledged Assassin’s Creed title next year. He explained: “On Assassin’s, we had a game [in 2018] and we have one this year, but we are not going to have a full-fledged Assassin’s next year,” said Guillemot. “It’s just because the team were working separately, so we have two games now, one year after the other. But next year you’re not going to have a fully fledged one.” “What you’ll have is lots of content coming on [Assassin’s Creed Odyssey]. The team really want to give, on a regular basis, some new possibilities for play, so when you get [Odyssey] this year, you’re going to get in for a couple of years, actually.” This decision isn’t made in vain though since it will give Ubisoft the time to reflect and see their options through for the future. For what it’s worth the company is content with their choices since Origins: “[The time] gave the team the possibility to really bring what they wanted to. The community has been responding very well to it and when I see what we are bringing with Odyssey I know that the community that got back in with Origins will be amazed.” As you might have already guessed by now, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be your main game for the franchise for the next couple of games. You can expect more free content and DLC for it to be added as time progresses to keep gameplay fun and longlasting. The game officially launches on October 5 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
  14. There won’t be any Battlefield 5 Rotterdam footage coming during Gamescom, according to a recent Twitter post from a user named MrProWestie. Westie said that he wasn’t allowed to show any footage until August 31, so there’s a few more days to go until we can actually see any gameplay footage. The reason he gave for this was because EA decided not to have a keynote at the event this year for some reason, possibly because they didn’t have very much to work with this time around. With all of their major stuff having been revealed at E3 and nothing else to really show for it since then it’s likely that Battlefield 5 is the only thing they might have. We’ve seen the Battlefield 5 Rotterdam map in two different trailers now, one with small flashes of gameplay and the other showing off the game’s graphics from the RTX graphics cards. However, hopefully with the footage that’s going to be releasing on August 31, we’ll be able to actually see some gameplay with the map. Hopefully, considering the footage we saw of Battlefield 1 before it came out, the Battlefield 5 Rotterdam footage will be just as good. Battlefield 1 was one of the most successful Battlefield games in several years, but the low pre-order numbers of Battlefield 5 might be another reason why EA isn’t doing a keynote. While the game does look like the standard hectic Battlefield gameplay, and has amazing visuals to go with it, we won’t see just how it looks until August 31 when the Battlefield 5 Rotterdam footage actually comes out. Hopefully it will have the same variety of weapons and vehicles that Battlefield 1 had, which was part of what made it so successful. We’ll keep you posted for when the Battlefield 5 Rotterdam footage comes out, but in the meantime Battlefield 1 will be coming out on the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC on October 11.
  15. The Ace Combat 7 release date has finally been revealed in a new Gamescom trailer that showed us a wide variety of the planes that we’ll be seeing and flying throughout the game. It also shows us a lot more about the new Arsenal Bird, a massive drone-launching plane. Ace Combat 7 is the first main Ace Combat game to be released in a good while, ever since Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation, was released back in 2007. Other Ace Combat games were games like Assault Horizon, which got positive reviews, and numerous online Ace Combat games with no story. It was previously announced to be coming out in 2017, then was moved to 2018, and now seems to be moving to 2019. Ace Combat 7 takes place in the future of Strangereal, in a new war between the Kingdom of Erusea and the Osean Federation, which have gone to war over a space elevator allegedly built in Erusean territory. Players take on the role of a pilot named Trigger in a penal unit, while also having to contend with new drone fighters deployed from an advanced new aircraft known as Arsenal Bird. We’ve seen a good bit of gameplay, so when the Ace Combat 7 release date rolls around the game will hopefully get the same sort of acclaim that the other Ace Combat games have gotten in the past, especially now that the series is returning to its original setting. Along with the many different unmanned planes you’ll be fighting, there will also, as with any Ace Combat game, be a wide variety of other, more futuristic aircraft, including ones that shoot lasers. This, combined with the game’s utterly beautiful graphics, are sure to make this a game to remember. The Ace Combat 7 release date shows that the game will be releasing on the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC on January 18 of next year. You can look further up the article to see the game’s new Gamescom trailer for yourself.
  16. A new cinematic for Overwatch has been revealed today during Gamescom, starring our Blizzard sweetheart, D.Va. The new cinematic shows the hero inside the Mecha, having to make difficult choices and save the world. Additionally, a new Overwatch map has been revealed through the cinematic and later showcased, the city of Busan. Watching the new Overwatch cinematic, you’ll find yourself liking D.Va more and more. Even if you were one of the fans that didn’t support the idea of her being a national hero and an idol, you’ll find out that the real Hannah is actually pretty charming. We won’t give out any spoilers on it, so take your time and check out the D.Va cinematic below: Later on, Blizzard announced Busan, a new control Overwatch map spread across different areas of the city shown in the cinematic. Busan includes three capture points in the Sanctuary, Downtown, and MEKA Base. Here are the first screenshots of Busan, as revealed by Blizzard during Gamescom: 1 of 11 PreviousNext This is the first time for Blizzard to show such big changes from one capture point to another in an Overwatch map, with each one having its own unique theme. Sanctuary is an eastern themed temple, reminding us of the second control point in Hanamura. Downtown is just what its name dictates, a modern look on a city like Tokyo, while the MEKA Base is the house of D.Va and her squad and their base of operations. As you might have already guessed, the new Overwatch map, Busan will be available on the PTR server soon, before it hits the live servers on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. Did you like the newly released D.Va cinematic? How would you rank it against the previous ones? How do you feel about a new control Overwatch map heading soon to PTR?
  17. A new promotional deal has become available on Steam, offering you to get the Starter Edition of For Honor for free on Steam. This comes after the game actually got some big E3 news, news that it was getting a new faction in its universe, a Chinese-inspired empire and new modes too. For Honor came out a few years ago to pretty positive reviews, though it got criticism for unstable servers. Since then it’s gotten a large amount of new content and new mechanics, even a new training mode, and the upcoming new faction known as the Wu Lin, part of a DLC called Marching Fire, will be coming out on October 16. Along with the new faction, which includes a variety of new character classes, a new mode will also be coming, called “Breach”, which focuses around the siege of a castle as one group tries to break in and the other group attempts to defend their castle. Since then new content has continued to come out, such as an Arcade mode that was announced at Gamescom that will allow you to buff or debuff AI enemies during a fight. If you download the current version of For Honor for free on Steam, you’ll be getting it for far cheaper than what it normally is, even if right now it’s currently at 75% off as well. Since Marching Fire is coming out soon, there’s hopefully soon going to be a lot of new people joining the game once again, especially with all of the different changes that Ubisoft has made. You’ll only be able to get For Honor for free for a few more days, with the offer ending on August 27, and Marching Fire will be coming out on October 16, so if you haven’t bought the game yet, and are looking to get it on PC, you won’t have much time to get into practice with all the available heroes before the new stuff comes out.
  18. The Darksiders 3 release date has come out along with a new trailer from Gamescom, showing that the game will be releasing on November 27 for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC. The game brings a new Horseman of the Apocalypse and a vast world to explore, along with new enemies to fight. Darksiders 3 is an interquel in the Darksiders series. It takes place before the events of the original Darksiders game, telling the story of the Horseman Fury, who has been sent to Earth to hunt down the Seven Deadly Sins, who have escaped from their prisons. The game will be taking us back to a post-apocalyptic Earth filled with demons and angels who still fight over the ruins of humanity. Other bits of Darksiders 3 gameplay have already shown us two different pieces of gameplay with at two different members of the Sins, the Sins of Sloth and Wrath. We’ve also seen another piece of gameplay that takes place in a lava-filled area, and in all of these the gameplay looked like the good old gameplay from Darksiders, with Fury making quick use of her whip and the various items she’ll pick up along the way. However, we don’t know the full story, and it’s likely that much like the other Darksiders games that have come out so far that there will be more to the story than trailers are so far telling us. Darksiders 3 was first announced back in early May, injecting new life into a series that many had given up for dead when THQ went under. But THQ Nordic and Gunmetal Games are now working hard to make sure that the series lives up to its reputation, and hopefully when November and the Darksiders 3 release date rolls around Darksiders 3 gets just as good of a reception as the other two games have. The Darksiders 3 release date is once again comes out on the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC on November 27.
  19. A new Gamescom trailer related to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has hinted that we may be getting a PS4 version of PUBG in the near future. The picture in question shows the Bluehole devs developing the game, while a Playstation 4 Pro sits nearby. PUBG currently is available only on Xbox One and PC. While lately Fortnite has been eclipsing everything in terms of Battle Royale games, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is still quietly chugging along, despite losing large numbers of players to Fortnite due to rampant cheating, technical bugs, and a very slow update schedule. Fortnite, in the meantime, is more lighthearted, is constantly being updated, and is also far more technically stable. While PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds made millions in sales on the PC before it was even fully released, and also got millions of sales on the Xbox One, it still is missing from the Playstation 4 even though it’s also been ported to mobile. We don’t know exactly why this is (maybe it’s because Sony doesn’t believe in cross-platform gameplay), but that photo might be some indication that Bluehole is working on the Playstation 4. The Playstation 4 is an untapped market, so if a PS4 version of PUBG is indeed coming they might be able to bolster their numbers some more. However, since Fortnite has already beaten them to that console, it might not be as successful as they think, especially if Battlegrounds still has a lot of the problems that cost it so many players in the first place. Of course, we still don’t even know if we’re even getting a PS4 version of PUBG yet. If we were, it’s likely that Bluehole would actually announce it, and they’ve been quiet for a pretty long time with no real news or anything coming out of the studio. If a version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds for the Playstation 4 does come out, however, hopefully it will have reached its full potential.
  20. One game we all wanted to see more of but didn’t have the chance to yet is Biomutant. THQ Nordic’s upcoming title is a mix of all things good in an RPG title, giving us some serious Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild vibes but with a funnier approach. Luckily, the company has brought a new trailer and Xbox One X gameplay footage with them to Gamescom 2018, giving us more reasons to get hyped about its release. Undeniably, Biomutant was one of the biggest surprises of Gamescom today, as the game looks even more beautiful now than it did a few months ago. Just looking at its trailer, you can tell how its vibrant world, cute characters, and intense battle all get tied together to create a game worthy of a spot in our collection. The new Biomutant trailer shows off all those segments along with its funny side to various basic things, like walking. Among other scenes, we can see the characters “glued” to a huge water drop, sliding down a hill like it’s some kind of controllable vehicle. Apart from that, THQ Nordic and Experiment 101 have released a new gameplay footage video for Biomutant captured on an Xbox One X, the current most powerful console. You should go ahead and watch all 14 minutes of the video to be able to appreciate the effort put into this game and say: Yes, that’s a game that I want to add to my library. What does Biomutant look like though? It reminds us of a handful of different games tied into one like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Nier Automata, Titanfall and more. The game doesn’t have a stated release date, however, it is set to launch this year for Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC. Is Biomutant in your shopping radar yet? Let us know in the comments below.
  21. The Good Old Games website has launched something that it calls the FCKDRM Initiative, which is intended to educate gamers and people in general about what DRM is used for. It’s also intended to teach people how they can use DRM-free sources of entertainment in order to prevent losing them. DRM is short for Digital Rights Management, which is the same sort of copy protection that many pirates are attempting to crack constantly in order to try and be able to get high-profile games for free if they either don’t have the money or aren’t in a country where the game is available. Good Old Games is known among gaming circles for not only having a wide variety of games both vintage and new available to buy, but also for all of its games being free of DRM, allowing you to play them as much as you want without fear of copy protection. This is part of the main reason for its FCKDRM Initiative. Keeping games DRM free will allow you to back up and copy them, access them offline, keep your rights as a consumer, and be able to support digital preservation of games. That last one is particularly important as there are a large number of ROM-hosting websites that allow you to play various games on your computer browser without actually owning a copy. This can be handy especially when you want to play a game that either doesn’t exist anymore or is extremely hard to find. DRM means that these sorts of emulators and ROMs can’t exist, which will eventually consign even good games to the pages of gaming history, along with the possibility of playing through a game for nostalgia. The FCKDRM Initiative can be reached by following this website, and while GOG doesn’t advocate piracy, DRM can still hurt just as much as it helps.
  22. During today’s Gamescom coverage, we had the opportunity to check out a new Rage 2 gameplay video, showcasing the game’s intense first-person shooting combat. While the gameplay itself isn’t something we haven’t already seen, we saw the Overdrive mechanic in action, a feature that was teased but not shown in action. Thankfully, the Rage 2 gameplay video shown at Gamescom is not spilling any beans on its story. We already know a few bits of its storyline, however, knowing more than that in a title with such big first-person shooting impact could have spoiled the playtime for many fans. The protagonist is moving through a series of different battles during the video, killing enemies with different types of weapons and skills in an insane killing spree. An interesting bit about the combat shown in the new Rage 2 gameplay video, is the skills used to fight enemies in close range. At some point, our character drops from the ground above to crush enemies below him and throw ninja star-like devices to push away opponents with a swing of his hand. What we are more excited about though is the Overdrive mechanic. We have already discussed how it will be activated to provide the following bonuses: guns do more damage and gain new attributes, health begins to regenerate and enemies drop better loot. When you activate the Overdrive, your screen will flash with bright pink glitchy colors, granting you its effects for a limited amount of time. We can’t help to think how the colors used for the Overdrive and the Rage 2 UI, in general, would have fit a cyberpunk setting better but who are we to judge? Rage 2 is being developed by Avalanche Studios and id Software and will be published by Bethesda in June 2019 for PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. Are you ready for some intense Rage 2 fighting?
  23. As with every high-profile video game release, the Division 2 special editions are apparently going to be giving you more space to store your weapons along with any other cool toys that they might be wanting to get. This has apparently rubbed a number of players the wrong way. Storage space is one of the biggest issues with shared-world shooters like The Division and Destiny, both of which rely on players running through missions with their friends and collecting various pieces of gear to make powerful builds that they can use in harder missions. However, save enough of those in your vault and you’ll eventually run out of space and have to delete gear to make room. The Division 2 special editions advertising more storage space if you buy one of them, therefore, can definitely run some people the wrong way, as it’s the same sort of thing that was criticized about microtransactions: nickel-and-diming people for things that should be part of the game by default. The extra vault space being limited to those who buy a certain tier of game just means that Ubisoft is trying to wring every bit of money out of the game’s fanbase that they, something that a lot of players might not appreciate especially if they enjoy having a lot of loot that can be used to cover the basics of high-tier missions. We don’t even know what people who buy the standard editions of the game are going to be getting in terms of storage space, but still, the fact that people who spend more money get more space is worth getting mad about, especially when we’ve had a lot of fuss about microtransactions this year in the wake of Battlefront 2. Ubisoft may release some sort of statement about why the Division 2 special editions are getting more storage space and what they intend to do about it, but for now we’ll just have to see how it turns out. The Division 2 will be coming out on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC on March 15 of 2019.
  24. When thinking about companies that have shown a particular interest in profit over the past years, Electronic Arts is possibly the first one to pop into mind. After being named the “Worst Company in America” and being the center of countless of “paid DLC memes”, the company’s CEO has expressed his opinion on the matter, claiming that Electronic Arts isn’t a “greedy beast”. Speaking at the B.C. Tech Summit in Canada, Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson talked about the company’s stand across its fans and what their priorities are regarding their products. According to him, Electronic Arts isn’t trying to be greedy, it’s just a natural course of things that the current industry dictates. He said: “If you understand the video game business, EA–the branding is this corporate beast that just wants to take money from them while people play our games. That’s not actually what we’re trying to do.” “For the longest time in civilization, we would spend money as human beings, then we would spend time where we spent our money. That’s reversed now. You come in, and play a bunch of games, and ultimately you invest after that.” That pretty much gives us a sense how Electronic Arts views their use of microtransactions and paid DLC policies. If what we understand is correct, then Electronic Arts isn’t releasing paid content to give you a reason to play but a reason to stay and continue to invest time longterm. Do you agree or not? With EA’s past with titles like Star Wars Battlefront 2 where microtransactions came to be essential for players to move past several milestones, it’s difficult for us to think that Wilson’s statement is a totally honest one. What do you think? Do you believe that Electronic Arts is a corporate “greedy beast”? Let us know in the comments below.
  25. As Devil May Cry 5 is finally getting more attention at Gamescom, we’ve also got some Xbox One X Devil May Cry 5 gameplay straight from the event, courtesy of IGN. The gameplay shows what appears to be a significant portion of a level, and it definitely looks like DMC is back. The gameplay doesn’t really involve much story in it, from what we can see, as it mainly focuses on Nero as he makes his way through the city of Red Grave, which has been invaded by demons and is now crawling with them. We do get a boss fight at the end against a gigantic demon called Goliath, but mainly what we get to see is the game’s classic combat with guns and swords, augmented by Nero’s Devil Breaker arm which allows him to use a variety of other attacks against demons. These moves include coiling demons to either pull them or yourself closer to you, an arm cannon that can launch a single powerful attack, and more, though you’ll have to be careful when using each variety because each one only has a certain amount of uses, which you have to collect throughout the levels. From what we can see, everything in the game looks amazing, especially as the lighting changes across the level from night-lit streets into sun-kissed rooftops. There’s a wide variety of demons too, ranging from insect-like ones to scythe-wielding demons called Hell Caina. Each of these creatures has a variety of different attacks, so in battles with multiple types you’ll have to keep on your toes. We also get to see a good bit of the trademark Devil May Cry snarkery, and it refreshingly doesn’t include gratuitous F-bombs, which it likely would have if the 2013 version of Dante were the protagonist of the game instead of Nero. You can see the Devil May Cry 5 gameplay at the top of this article, and prepare yourself for when the game comes out on March 8 of 2019 for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
