The leave torrent running has served me well for along time. I will often leave a hot one going until it has to be removed to make space. So, a couple torrent I've had are above 50:1 ratio on the client and my site ratio in one site is 4:1.
I used seedhosts for along time and recently moved to a private seedhost operated on a good Linux platform that for a basic system costs about US$5.00 per month that includes 25Gb of space. It was surprising how fast speeds increased over the typical seedhost.
It does take a little bit of work up front to stand up the program on your Linux VPS, but again, it's only going to be serving your torrents.
If any one is interested, I would be happy to forward the links to good tools to automate install and setup of Rutorrent.
till then
Cheers
