That's what I've been using as my primary torrent downloading setup for some years, currently I have a Pi 4(previously Orange PI PC) connected to a SSD as storage, I have OpenMediaVault running on it with a Docker container that has OpenVPN and Transmission inside the VPN Tunnel to have some safety and I have a second container running a local PLEX server which pulls the data that gets stored to the SSD from the transmission container, that allows me to stream my content over my local network plus a nice organised interface, the Pi is connected to my network using ethernet which allows gigabit speeds, I also have Samba share running on the pi which alllows me to browse the SSD from my other devices like a network drive.
It's a neat little low power, low maintenance media station and 24/7 seedbox.
