  1. It’s been a busy couple of days for Guardians of the Galaxy and, more specifically, Adam Warlock. Many fans knew, or at least thought, he would appear in GotG 3 after his teaser in the second movie, but this week Adam Warlock’s casting, Will Poulter, was confirmed. As the movie introduces him, new characters, returning characters, and a story focused on Gamora and Nova, it seems set up to be another hit in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, it’s not the only form of media to utilize the character. A recent trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy teased Adam Warlock’s depiction in the game and was, shortly after, outright confirmed by the official Guardians of the Galaxy game Twitter account. It does remain to be seen what role he plays overall, but his addition is no doubt an exciting one for fans. RELATED:Guardians Of The Galaxy Releases New Footage Of Cosmo The confirmation and teaser are brief, showing just his silhouette and Warlock saying, “So the Shepherd’s found fresh flock.” With it just being about two weeks from release, fans are likely not going to learn much more about him before the game releases. After all, Guardians of the Galaxy needs a couple of surprises, and alongside Adam Warlock, the official Twitter account also promised there are aspects of the game that haven’t been shown or even mentioned yet. Please welcome to the stage… ADAM WARLOCK Friend, enemy or frenemy? #GOTGgame #YouGotThis pic.twitter.com/t6renpnqlf — Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy (@GOTGTheGame) October 13, 2021 That bodes well for Guardians of the Galaxy’s release date, but that doesn’t mean the game is shrouded in mystery. For example, fans already know that the titular ragtag group of heroes will be facing off with the Universal Church of Truth, the Church’s Grand Unifier Raker, and Lady Hellbender. It seems the game is diving into more of the obscure characters in the Marvel universe, and that’s a good thing. But having a recognizable and popular name like Adam Warlock certainly isn’t going to hurt either. Plus, a name like Adam Warlock may draw more fans of the franchise to the Guardians of the Galaxy game. Many have had concerns about it, ranging from its gameplay style, characterization, and relation to Marvel’s Avengers, but as Marvel’s Avengers is seemingly and slowly turning things around, the same may be said of Guardians of the Galaxy too. After all, in our recent preview of Guardians of the Galaxy, we were certainly impressed with the game and its offerings. Hopefully, more fans of the Guardians and Adam Warlock will be too. Guardians of the Galaxy will release on October 26, 2021, on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
  2. Dr Disrespect is no stranger to being roasted by YouTube viewers and other streamers, but during a recent live stream, he was left temporarily speechless from a chat message. Doc was sporting a new look, and even though he was expecting some fire, he didn't expect to be compared to Fire Mario. During a recent YouTube livestream, Dr Disrespect was wearing a white long sleeve muscle shirt when he typically wears black and red. The black and red were still represented through the streamer's headset, vest, and shades, but the white was a drastic departure from his usual look. As a result, several Dr Disrespect fans sent messages roasting the two-time champion including the Fire Mario message which accompanied a $4.99 Superchat donation. RELATED:Dr Disrespect Is Bringing Back His 'Doctober' Halloween Contest "Hey Fire Mario, you look like Dr Disrespect," said the YouTube chat message that sparked the YouTube streamer's funny reaction. Upon being compared to Fire Mario, Dr Disrespect stated that he didn't like the tone of the message, but that he would have to look the character up. While looking up the Nintendo hero, Dr Disrespect repeated his name as if he was trying to put a face to the name. With all of the images of Fire Mario being featured behind Dr Disrespect, it became easier for some viewers to see what Owen Bailey was talking about with their donation. Doc's mustache twitched as he looked down at his stream attire in disappointment before cursing in defeat. The YouTube streamer then went on to shout out other Superchat donations before watching a video of Lemnis Gate. Dr Disrespect brought back the Doctober Halloween contest this year, a competition in which his fans do their best Doc cosplays. The YouTube streamer has shown off some of the Doctober entrants so far, but one recent cosplay includes MLB's Atlanta Braves mascot Blooper who dressed as the Doc for a game. October still has several more days to come and the best Dr Disrespect cosplay may remain to be seen. "Hey Fire Mario, you look like Dr Disrespect," said the YouTube chat message that sparked the YouTube streamer's funny reaction. Unlike the October contestants, it's unlikely that Dr Disrespect intended to resemble Fire Mario when he chose a white shirt for his stream. Considering how long Dr Disrespect has been gaming, it's also probable that he's seen Fire Mario in the past. While the two-time champion was missing the trademark Mario cap, the rest of his outfit bore several similarities with the Nintendo hero. Mario is known for switching his cap for others such as when he meets Cappy in Super Mario Odyssey so it isn't outlandish to think that he might wear a black wig with sunglasses and Turtle Beach headphones.
  3. Despite being out for only a week, players have managed to discover a littany of secrets within Far Cry 6. Considering how expansive and detailed the world of Far Cry 6 is, there's sure to be a number of cosmetic characteristics featured throughout the game that relates to content outside of what the main narrative has to offer. Though, this most recent discovery is rather different comparatively. As games have grown to become more ambitious in terms of scope and scale, secret content in the form of Easter eggs has started to become much more commonplace and the Far Cry series is no exception to this. For instance, Far Cry 5 featured numerous Easter eggs based on It, such as red balloons appearing at the entrance of sewers. While Far Cry 6 also has its fair share of Easter Eggs, there is one that players would only be able to find if they knew how to translate Morse code. RELATED:California Brewery Makes Far Cry 6 Themed Drink A Reddit user named infinite_spinergy encountered a Morse code message left behind by former Ubisoft sound designer, Cameron Britton. The Morse code translates to "Cameron Britton is the greatest sound designer of all time." It's certainly a clever Easter Egg that very few players would have otherwise noticed. Not to mention that it's an audio based Easter Egg, which deviates quite intensely from the multitude of visual based Easter Eggs featured throughout Far Cry 6. This isn't the first Far Cry 6 Easter egg with a developer's personal sentiment behind it. A few days ago, a former Far Cry 6 dev revealed a tribute to his pet cat in the form of murals scattered throughout Yara's open-world. It's amazing to see just how much of the development teams' various personalities are able to shine through in Far Cry 6. It will be interesting to see what other secrets and hidden content players manage to find within Far Cry 6. Payers have already encountered Far Cry 6's secret ending, in addition to a number of other hidden details scattered throughout the game. Although, what has many Far Cry 6 fans excited is the upcoming DLC campaigns that will be featured in the Far Cry 6 Season Pass. For the first time ever, players will be able to play as previous villains in the Far Cry 6 DLC. What that entails is still up for debate, considering that the DLC won't be released for several months. However, given the uniqueness of the player characters, there's bound to be significant changes and variance in gameplay. Far Cry 6 is available now on Amazon Luna, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S
  4. Without a doubt, the announcement of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, as well as Pokemon Legends: Arceus, a while back lit a fire under much of the fanbase. Not only are two highly demanded remasters coming to the Switch this year, but a new twist on the franchise formula in Pokemon Legends: Arceus is releasing next year. Fans know that Pokemon Legends: Arceus isn’t a fully open world, but it is more open than past entries. Battling and catching Pokemon is completely different, while new features like Noble Pokemon are being introduced. There are also rumor aplenty, but the last one details a few new changes for the game, notably related to Sinnoh’s legendary trio. RELATED:Pokemon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl's EXP Share Can't Be Turned Off This information comes way of Centro Leaks, which has leaked accurate information in the past. It’s still best to take this with a grain of salt, as even the leaker suggests they weren’t able to get confirmation on this information. It does make sense for Pokemon Legends: Arceus, however, and is incredibly enticing. Particularly, Centro Leaks has suggested that Palkia, Dialga, and Giratina (in a later DLC) will all get primal forms. Primal forms were last seen in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, with Primal Groudon and Kyogre playing a big role in their story. It’s exciting nonetheless and will apparently be met with other new legendary and mythical Pokemon as well: a new, uncatchable form of Arceus, a new legendary quartet, a new mythical, and a Hisuian form for Mewtwo as well. Previously, Centro Leaks had stated that Pokemon Legends: Arceus’ starters would receive new forms (alongside their claim of Primal Palkia and Dialga being added to the game) and that it would receive DLC throughout 2022. Assuming this is true, or if even half of it is true, it seems Pokemon Legends: Arceus will bring in a lot of elements that fans of the franchise will appreciate. And all of these new forms and Pokemon stand to reason too. Alongside the reveal of Noble Pokemon, Pokemon Legends: Arceus revealed Kleavor which is an evolution of Scyther. Since Legends is set in the past, it seems that the Kleavor evolution became less common and perhaps disappeared over time. This evolutionary notion, befitting of the franchise, could easily explain their presence in this game but why they don’t appear in more “modern-day” titles such as the upcoming Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. For now, though, fans should keep their expectations in check while waiting to find out if Centro Leaks is accurate here. Pokemon Legends: Arceus releases on January 28, 2022, for Switch.
  5. Square Enix's MMO Final Fantasy 14 is currently peaking in terms of popularity, reaching 26 million subscribers. It's a shocking number, given just how big of a game Final Fantasy 14 is with its base game and three massive expansion each having its own lengthy campaign. Yet all eyes are on Final Fantasy 14's upcoming expansion Endwalker, the planned "ending" for the current story arc. Square Enix is excited, too, and is promising an experience even larger than a modern RPG. Speaking as part of a recent Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker media event, game director Naoki Yoshida had big promises for fans. To give an idea of just what he means by an expansion larger than a modern RPG, Yoshida added further context by saying that Endwalker will even be bigger than previous Final Fantasy 14 expansions. Suffice to say, Final Fantasy 14 players who have enjoyed the amount of content in previous expansions will be satisfied with what Endwalker will provide. RELATED:Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker Countdown Kicks Off With Moogle Treasure Trove Event Elaborating on what he means by a larger expansion, Yoshida points to the amount of content to be found in Endwalker's story. He says that he doesn't want to give a specific figure for comparison, but that when looking specifically at the "amount of text," "cutscenes," and other story content there's "a lot" more in Endwalker than in, say, Shadowbringers. Given that Endwalker is the end of the story that's been told since Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn's beginning, it's clear Square Enix wants to finish the story right. As exciting as it is to hear that Square Enix is putting the time and effort into Endwalker that the ending truly deserves, it's also unlikely to come as a surprise to Final Fantasy 14 players. One thing that Final Fantasy 14 has never failed to deliver is enough story content. Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers are journeys that can take days if not weeks to finish, leaving players exhausted physically and emotionally. Final Fantasy players may as well be told they're getting their third extra serving of dinner. That's a major part of why Final Fantasy 14 has had such a warm reception among its players, however. It's truly an epic fantasy story, not just similar to previous major Final Fantasy games but also bigger. That Yoshida and the team want to go bigger for the finale of their story just shows how much the team gets it. This is what Final Fantasy 14 players are asking for. Yoshida wraps up his thoughts on the matter by reiterating that while Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker is the end of this story, it's not the end of Final Fantasy 14. Yet again, he's rather cryptic on the subject. Still, if the biggest expansion Final Fantasy 14 has ever received isn't enough, it's clear there's more to come after Endwalker arrives this November. Final Fantasy 14 is available now on PC, PS4, and PS5. Endwalker launches on November 23.
  6. Despite being one of the most iconic game releases of all time, Diablo 2: Resurrected has had a tumultuous launch. That's not to say anything of the quality of developer Vicarious Visions' update of the ARPG's visuals, which have been resoundingly praised. Rather, Diablo 2: Resurrected had the misfortune to launch in the midst of Activision Blizzard's ongoing controversy over workplace gender discrimination. And since its launch, Diablo 2: Resurrected has been plagued by frequent login issues. The official Blizzard customer service Twitter account issued another statement on Wednesday morning regarding Diablo 2: Resurrected's ongoing login issues. The statement confirms that the issue is ongoing, though developers are actively working to prevent the issues from occurring. However, those actions can have a direct impact on the ongoing issues. Blizzard warns that Diablo 2: Resurrected players may experience periods of time where "logins or game creation are limited." In other words, expect the issues to continue for the foreseeable future. RELATED:Blizzard Criticized For Not Crediting Diablo 2: Resurrected's Translators Another detail that the Blizzard account calls attention to is that the login issues crop up in Diablo 2: Resurrected at peak hours. That means the servers are struggling to deal with the number of players logging on and making games when they're at their highest. It's likely not a capacity issue, however, so much as a more complex issue that cascades when more players are online at the same time. In other words, Diablo 2: Resurrected's developers have their work cut out for them. Login issues have been prevalent in Diablo 2: Resurrected for the past week, with players attempting to log in either experiencing an extremely slow authentication process or having authentication fail. The issues began following an update from Blizzard that rolled out on October 6. While the correlation between the issues and the patch seems clear, there's nothing in the patch notes that stands out. As such, it's likely an unpublished change dealing with the backend of Diablo 2: Resurrected. For whatever reason, Blizzard hasn't opted to roll back the update. Instead, Diablo 2: Resurrected players have had to wait for Blizzard each day to try and get a handle on the day's login issues. That typically means login issues anywhere between 6:00 AM PT and 1:00 PM PT. While it's likely safe to assume that a permanent solution is being worked on for Diablo 2: Resurrected's login issues, no statement to that effect has been made. Rather, Blizzard is dealing with each day's issues as they come. It's possible Blizzard is hoping for the peak player count to simply decrease. Without further comment, the issue remains muddy. Diablo 2: Resurrected players will just have to do their best to avoid the times of the day when Diablo 2: Resurrected is having problems. Diablo 2: Resurrected is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
  7. Zombies has been one of the staple modes in the Call of Duty franchise, pitting four players against waves of the undead to test their survival skills and teamwork. The mode has seen players battle zombies in the ruins of World War 2 Germany, on a mysterious moon base, and in a different dimension with stories leaning into absurdity. Sledgehammer will be bringing Zombies back in Call of Duty: Vanguard, and the studio has given players a taste of what's to come. Call of Duty: Zombies was first introduced in 2008's Call of Duty: World at War from developer Treyarch as a cooperative mini-game pitting four players against endless waves of zombies. It became a regular mode in Treyarch's subsequent Call of Duty games with various narratives, the most prevalent telling the story of a ragtag team of World War 2 soldiers trying to stop the zombie apocalypse. Sledgehammer Games also dabbled with Zombies in its own Call of Duty games, making Infinity Ward the only series developer to not feature the mode in its own Call of Duty entries. RELATED:Call Of Duty Using Ricochet Anti-Cheat For Warzone And Vanguard Sledgehammer offered a first look at what players can expect from Call of Duty: Vanguard on the official Call of Duty Twitter account with a short teaser ahead of the official trailer's release. As with the rest of the game, it will be set in World War 2 and will serve as the next chapter in the Dark Aether storyline which began in 2020's Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. It also appears to play into the occult, which has long been associated with Hitler's Nazi party in pop culture. A remix of Billie Eilish's 2019 hit song bury a friend provides the haunting background music to further draw players in. As mentioned, the Dark Aether began in Black Ops Cold War as a loose continuation of the Aether storyline which ran through the previous Black Ops games' Zombies mode. It saw the covert team Requiem battle the Soviet Union's Omega Group and the zombie plague its experiments unleashed on the world. One of the earliest reveals was the Soviet's experiments were originally undertaken by the Nazis in their desperation to halt the Allies and win World War 2. This could serve as the setup for the next chapter of the Dark Aether storyline, which has not shied away from using popular science fiction tropes like alternate dimensions and time travel. Add to this possibility the fact Samantha Maxis, a key character in the Aether and Dark Aether story who disappeared at the end of Cold War's zombies story, could reappear and players may be in for one of the wildest storylines yet. Call of Duty: Vanguard is scheduled to release November 5, 2021, on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
  8. The developer known widely as the creator of Final Fantasy, Hironobu Sakaguchi, has recently gone online to share his experience with Final Fantasy 14, commenting on the story as he progresses through the game. This has been seen as an uplifting sight from fans, especially considering how long it has been since Sakaguchi has had his hands in the development of a Final Fantasy title. Though Sakaguchi is credited as the creator of Final Fantasy, the developer left Square Enix in 2004 and has since founded the development company Mistwalker. So, aside from a moment like this with Sakaguchi diving into Final Fantasy 14 for fun, he hasn't been involved in the series, instead moving on to work on titles like Lost Odyssey and the Terra Battle series. RELATED:Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker Countdown Kicks Off With Moogle Treasure Trove Event In a tweet, Sakaguchi shared an image of his Lalafell character walking up to the Gates of Judgement in Ishgard, with an accompanying caption about the story up until this point. The developer mentions that the story of Final Fantasy 14 unfolds rapidly, which is an aspect of the game that has drawn many players into the ongoing MMO for some time now. However, the original comment is in Japanese, so there may be some nuance in the exact comments that are lost in translation, such as how Sakaguchi mentions that the feeling of isolation in the game helps to motivate to push forward. 物語は急展開。 ほほぉ〜 そうきますか・・・ いいね、この孤立感。さらに、やる気が増す。 いざ、蒼天のイシュガルドへ。#FF14 #FFXIV pic.twitter.com/imRjggsbqQ — 坂口博信 (@auuo) October 12, 2021 Fans commenting on the tweet have also begun sharing their own enjoyment of Final Fantasy 14's jobs and story elements, as well as congratulating Sakaguchi on his progress. Overall, the fanbase, mostly also commenting in Japanese as well, appear to be both showing their appreciation of the game, as well as to Sakaguchi for his part in getting the series to this point in the first place. Especially considering the way that the developer has previously influenced the fantasy aspects of the Final Fantasy series over the science fiction, this appears to be a great match for Sakaguchi and fans of his work. With Final Fantasy 14 seeing more players now than ever, it appears to be motivating for some of these new and veteran players to see the series creator enjoying the game so much. Looking at his work on everything from the first Final Fantasy to other titles in the series that find their way to the top of fans' lists of favorite games like Final Fantasy 9, Sakaguchi's opinion does have some weight among the community. It's exciting to see him enjoy his progress now, especially considering that he doesn't have the obligation of being a current employee working for Square Enix. Final Fantasy 14 is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
  9. EA Sports' FIFA franchise has become one of the most highly-regarded annual titles in the world of sports games. EA has partnered with the International Federation of Association Football for use of the massive association's branding and likeness for almost 30 years since FIFA International Soccer in 1993. However, recent rumors have suggested a rift between EA Sports and FIFA that may lead to EA dropping the FIFA branding, and a new report from the New York Times suggests the quarrel may be tied to money. FIFA has been one of EA's best-selling franchises for many years due in part to the widespread popularity of association football. The franchise has been massively profitable for EA Sports through its raw sales, as well as the popularity of the microtransaction-driven FIFA Ultimate Team. The company has partnered with FIFA consistently since the franchise's inception for the use of both the FIFA and FIFA World Cup likenesses and branding. RELATED:Exclusive Kit Designed By David Beckham Available In FIFA 22 Ultimate Team A recent trademark filed by EA suggested a title change may be rebranding to EA Sports FC for upcoming titles and a report from EA Sports executive Cam Weber may confirm those rumors. Weber detailed that talks of a potential contract renewal between FIFA and EA Sports had stalled, referencing a potential break in the collaboration following the Qatar World Cup in 2022. The report goes on to detail that FIFA requested a payment of $1 billion every four years for EA to continue to use the FIFA name and branding. The report also details some ways EA has looked to expand monetization within the FIFA franchise, including highlights of real-world games, arena tournaments, and even the possibility of digital-only products like NFTs. FIFA's restrictions on the EA-developed franchise would limit monetization of the association's likeness strictly to content found in-game. Notably, a break in the collaboration between FIFA and EA Sports would not mean the loss of its player likenesses and rights as the company's player deals are separate from the main FIFA agreement. The most recent entry in the annual football franchise, FIFA 22, featured a number of improvements to existing features offered within the sports series. The game's touted HyperMotion technology promises the most realistic gameplay the series has seen to date. Preview Packs, offering previews of Ultimate Team's gacha packs, will be making a return after their introduction in FIFA 21 and Volta received a new "Signature Ability" system and a selection of new mini-games. While the franchise's branding may be up in the air, EA Sports' annual franchise will likely continue to be a popular choice for fans, regardless of its name. FIFA 22 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
  10. Paul McCartney has controversially likened The Rolling Stones to a "blues cover band". During an interview with The New Yorker, the 79-year-old musician was asked how The Beatles compared to other popular bands formed in the 1960s, and he insisted the group's catalogue was broader. "I'm not sure I should say it, but they're a blues cover band, that's sort of what the Stones are," McCartney said. "I think our net was cast a bit wider than theirs." This is not the first time the music legend has commented on The Beatles' longstanding rivalry with the rock band. Speaking to Howard Stern last year, he agreed with the presenter that The Beatles were a better band, but contended that "the Stones are a fantastic group" and that he still sees them live when possible. "They are rooted in the blues. When they are writing stuff, it has to do with the blues. Whereas we had a little more influences," the star explained to Stern. "There's a lot of differences, and I love the Stones, but I'm with you. The Beatles were better." Following the remarks, Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger responded, "That's so funny." "He's a sweetheart," he continued. "There's obviously no competition." The vocalist added that his group was different from The Beatles due to them being a "big concert band". "They broke up before that business started, the touring business for real didn't start until the end of the Sixties," Jagger, 78, insisted. "That's the real big difference between these two bands. One band is unbelievably luckily still playing in stadiums and the other band doesn't exist."
  11. Tyga has been arrested for felony domestic violence. According to Rolling Stone, the 31-year-old rapper turned himself into Los Angeles police on Tuesday morning after his ex-girlfriend, Camaryn Swanson, accused him of domestic abuse on social media on Monday evening. "Michael Stevenson (Tyga) went to Hollywood Div around 9:00 am where he was arrested and booked for felony domestic violence, 273.5 A PC," a representative for the Los Angeles Police Department told the outlet. "Bail is $50,000. The domestic violence incident occurred on 10/11/21. Due to confidentiality, no information regarding the victim is being released." On Monday, TMZ reported that the alleged incident occurred at Tyga's home around 3 a.m. that morning. Camaryn reportedly called the police to allege that Tyga had put his hands on her during an argument and they took a report for felony domestic violence. The influencer later took to Instagram to accuse Tyga of hitting her and share a photo of her alleged injuries. "I've been emotionally, mentally, and physically abused and I'm not hiding it anymore," she posted on her Instagram Stories. "I'm so embarrassed and ashamed it had to get to this but I have to stand up for myself." Sources told TMZ that Camaryn turned up uninvited at the home, but she refuted this by sharing a screengrab allegedly of a text exchange with Tyga which purportedly shows him organising a car to pick her up that morning. "I didn't show up 'screaming' or uninvited. When I tried to leave, he physically assaulted and refused to let me leave for hours," she wrote. Tyga has not publicly commented on the accusations.
  12. Fender is re-issuing the Kurt Cobain Jag-Stang guitar in honour of the 30th anniversary of 'Nevermind'. Nirvana's landmark album reached the milestone on September 24, and in celebration, the guitar makers have launched the custom model, which the late frontman created by mixing the Fender Jaguar and Mustang. The 'In Bloom' rocker previously shared: “Ever since I started playing, I’ve always liked certain things about certain guitars but could never find the perfect mix of everything I was looking for. “The Jag-Stang is the closest thing I know.” Fender recreated the Jag-Stang from sketches Kurt - who died of suicide aged 27 in 1994 - used to design the modified guitar. The instrument is available in Fiesta Red and Sonic Blue and comes complete with a stunning rosewood fingerboard. Justin Norvell, EVP of Fender Products, said: “When we took a look at the sketches Kurt Cobain had drawn up for his dream guitar, we were impressed by how intricate his design was. “We honoured the original model – all the specs on the new Jag Stang are as they were. Nothing new was done to it, we really wanted to keep it aligned with Kurt’s vision. “Through our long-standing relationship with the Kurt Cobain Estate, we always knew we wanted to bring his vision to life. It’s been an immense honour to help bring his idea to fruition and revive this model.” The guitar is priced at £1,249. Meanwhile, Kurt's bandmate Dave Grohl recently admitted he thinks about the Grunge icon so much he still dreams about him. The Foo Fighters frontman, who was the drummer in Nirvana, still regularly thinks about the man with whom he "went through multiple lifetimes". The 52-year-old musician said: "I think about him (Kurt) all the time. "I just had a dream about him two nights ago. "I only knew Kurt for about three and a half years, but in that time we went through multiple lifetimes. "Kurt's songs touched the world."
  13. The Boomtown Rats have released an EP of outtakes from their acclaimed album 'Citizens of Boomtown'. Bob Geldof's iconic punk rock band - also comprising Pete Briquette on bass, Simon Crowe on drums and Garry Roberts on guitar - have shared 'Out The Back Of Boomtown' in honour of their frontman's 70th birthday last week. Released ahead of their headline show at the legendary London Palladium on Thursday (14.10.21), the five tracks were recorded during the sessions for their first album of new material in 36 years, which was released in March 2020. To coincide with the release of the record, the 'Citizens of Boomtown: The Story of The Boomtown Rats' also aired on the BBC, which saw the re-formed group - who formed in Dublin in 1975 and were credited with revolutionising the punk rock scene - tell-all about their storied career. Meanwhile, the 'I Don't Like Mondays' hitmaker recently admitted a publicity stunt by the Irish group, which saw 1,000 rodents posted to radio hosts, was "basically the end" of the band's chances of finding success in the US. The musician and activist recalled having rats that had been soaked in formaldehyde and wrapped in plastic sent to DJs across America in 1970s. He said: "It was 1,000 dead actual rats which were ordered from the sanitation department of New York City and sent out from Chicago to 1,000 disc jockeys who were busy playing disco in the middle of the Seventies. So that was basically the end of the Boomtown Rats in America." The Boomtown Rats'Out The Back Of Boomtown' EP is available on all respectable digital platforms now. The full tracklisting of the EP is: 1. 'And I Do' 2. 'Against The World' 3. 'Man Like Me' 4. 'Three Dogs' 5. 'The Zone'
  14. Adele has signed with Columbia Records in the UK for her comeback album. Music Week reports that the 'Hello' hitmaker's contract with independent label XL Recordings, who released her third album, '25', in 2015, had expired. And her hotly-awaited single, 'Easy On Me', which is taken from the star's upcoming fourth studio album - which is expected to be titled '30' - will be released on Sony's parent label on Friday (15.10.21). The 33-year-old Grammy-winner - who is already signed to Columbia in the US - recently posted the single's artwork on social media. And over the weekend, fans got a surprise when she dropped an extended snippet of the piano ballad during her first Instagram Live. The 'Skyfall' hitmaker - who is dating sports agent Rich Paul - also spilled that the new album will be filled with heartbreak anthems. She said: "What's my next album going to be based on? Divorce, babe, divorce." Adele added that she is in a good place following her divorce from ex-husband Simon Konecki - with whom she has eight-year-old son Angelo - which was finalised earlier this year. She said: "My mental health is very good at the moment. I take it day by day and I address whatever comes my way. It definitely helps me feel better if I take my time. Writing my music… yeah it's been really therapeutic for sure." In a recent interview, Adele admitted she doesn’t really understand the “rules that are made up in society” that surround the legal separation process. Speaking about how she told her young son about her breakup from Simon, she said: “My anxiety was so terrible, I’d forget what I had or hadn’t said to Angelo about separating. Obviously, Simon and I never fought over him or anything like that. “Angelo’s just like, ‘I don’t get it.’ I don’t really get it either. There are rules that are made up in society of what happens and doesn’t happen in marriage and after marriage, but I’m a very complex person. “I’ve always let him know how I’m feeling from a very young age because I felt quite frazzled as an adult.”
  15. Absolute Radio Presenter Andy Bush was joined by Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland from Coldplay to chat about their new album Music of the Spheres as well as their gig at London’s O2 Shepherds Bush Empire in front of just 2,000 fans. Whilst chatting to Bush the singer revealed that he felt 12 albums would be the stopping point for Coldplay, who are currently releasing their 9th studio album. “I think that in a few albums time we will finish making albums. This is not a joke, this is true, I think after 12 that will be the end of our catalogue, but I think we will always want to play live together. So, I think in the way that the Stones do, it will be so cool if we can still be touring in our late 70s. That will be wonderful, if anybody wants to come.” said Chris. The frontman also talked about the band's collaboration with K-pop sensation BTS who he described as a delight to work with. “It's just been a real joy to do that song with them from start to finish. It was such a weird idea, and it was so wrong on paper in a way, but it allowed us to bring out our inner boyband and them to bring out their inner old man band and collaborate in a middle-aged band.” However, Chris admitted he hasn’t quite caught up with the current South Korean sensation the ‘Squid Games’ on Netflix, worrying that it might be a little too scary for him. “I’m good with thrillers, but less good with horror,” said Chris, “it's weird with me and horror, there is some of it I can really handle no problem and then others like IT etc. that’s what I can’t handle.” You can hear Coldplay’s interview with Andy Bush on Absolute Radio on Friday 15th October at 6:30pm Absolute Radio is also broadcasting Coldplay's London O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire concert, which is in celebration of their incredible new album ‘Music of the Spheres’. Broadcast on album release day this Friday 15th October, you can listen to extended highlights from 7pm.
  16. Cardi B has given fans a virtual tour of the luxury home her husband Offset brought for her 29th birthday. During the rapper's dancehall-themed birthday party in Los Angeles on Monday, Offset surprised his wife by announcing that he had purchased her a property in the Dominican Republic, and on Tuesday, Cardi posted a virtual tour of the mansion on Instagram. The property boasts six bedrooms, 7.5 bathrooms, an infinity pool, a separate studio, and stunning ocean views. In the caption, the WAP star explained to her followers that Offset had listened when she spoke about investing in property that could be rented out to holidaymakers. "For a hot minute now I've been telling Set that I really want to invest in short term home rental properties in the DR and other Caribbean countries (since people vacation all year around in those locations), but I felt like he didn't agree with me and would rather put money into other investments," she shared. "Well, I was wrong. I just can't believe this! This was sooo amazing to me. For one, I'm so happy that you were actually really listening to me and not just smiling and nodding your head so I could stop talkin to you about it (laughing emoji). Two, you don’t think my investment ideas are wack." She added that Offset sought the advice of her father, who is Dominican, and they worked together to find the perfect house. "You and my dad (and the baby) are the most important men in my life and it makes me so happy that you guys are close and have your own bond and relationship," she concluded. "I (love) you so much and I can't wait for this hangover to go away so I can show you my full appreciation (devil emojis)." Cardi and Offset got married in 2017 and share a three-year-old daughter named Kulture and a baby son, who was born last month.
  17. Olivia Rodrigo is already feeling the pressure to make a successful sophomore album. The 18-year-old singer achieved overnight success earlier this year with her debut single Drivers License and followed it up with the chart-topping record-breaking debut album Sour. Sitting down for a chat with Alanis Morissette - who experienced similar success with her 1995 album Jagged Little Pill - for Rolling Stone magazine, Rodrigo admitted she was already thinking about the pressure of delivering a worthy follow-up. "Pressure of a sophomore album is something that I've been thinking about a lot, too. I don't know if you felt that pressure," she said, to which Morissette replied, "After Jagged Little Pill, everywhere I went, every grocery store ever was, 'When's your next record? I hate men, too!' I didn't want to write it right away. There's a lot of pressure to rise to some odd occasion or bar." Elsewhere in the interview, Rodrigo admitted she was unsure if her songs would be relatable because she worked as a child actress and didn't go to school but she soon realised heartbreak is a universal theme everyone can connect with. "When I put out Drivers License, about this really hard time in my life, I watched it just affect so many people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender or age," she recalled. "There would be 40-year-old guys that would come up to me and be like, 'Wow, that really struck me.'" She added that her songs have proved so popular she sometimes feels like "they're not mine anymore". "The, 'I'm writing songs in my bedroom,' to 'Oh, my gosh, lots of people know this song,' was really quick for me. I feel obviously so lucky, but sometimes it just feels like it doesn't have to do with me," she confessed.
  18. Danny Jones and his son Cooper have recreated Oasis' 'Definitely Maybe' album cover for Little Tikes. The McFly star has been joined by his three-year-old boy as they put their own twist on an iconic moment in music history for the #MyRealJamMusicMinis campaign. In a picture posted on Instagram, Danny and Cooper used instruments from the new Little Tikes My Real Jam range to recreate the legendary 1994 album cover. He wrote: "Cooper just loves the new My Real Jam collection from Little Tykes. "Jamming with him at home on all the different toys is so much fun and it's great seeing him get excited about music and rocking out with his friends. "It reminds me of how I was when I was little!" Now, Danny and the brand are calling on all parents and care givers to share pictures of their own kids recreating classic images from rock and pop history, and by using the #MyRealJamMusicMinis hashtag they could win one of five My Real Jam bundles. One mini rocker whos already joined the campaign is three-year-old Isaac Kearney, who delivered an adorable take on Phil Collins' 'In The Air Tonight'. His mum Melissa Kearney said: "We've absolutely loved recreating this iconic music scene for the Little Tikes campaign. "Isaac is a little rock star in the making so it's been a joy seeing him in his element and rocking out with the My Real Jam range. "We've recently been campaigning for Isaac to be recognised by his music hero Phil Collins, so it was a no-brainer when deciding what music moment to recreate!" Other entries have included a KISS remake, a mini-Freddie Mercury and even a toddler take on Elvis Presley. Each toy in the range - which includes a DJ table, electric guitar, keyboard, acoustic guitar and drum set - has four different play modes, such as playing with the band, solo jam, free play and the Bluetooth ability to play along to any song. Michelle Lilley, head of marketing UK for Little Tikes, added: "Danny and Cooper clearly had a blast bringing rock history to life. "The album cover is an iconic moment in musical history, and it has great fun to see Danny and Cooper recreate it together in pint-sized form! "Musical play ticks all the boxes for playtime fun, it's creative, exciting, and there's an element of roleplay that young children love. What's more, it encourages brain development, self-confidence, and could spark a lifelong passion. " The brand new Little Tikes My Real Jam range is aimed at children aged 3-6 and is available to purchase from Littletikes.co.uk, Amazon and Smyths.
  19. ir Paul McCartney has called The Rolling Stones a "blues cover band". The Beatles legend has made no secret of the fact he believes the 'Let it Be' hitmakers were better than the 'Honky Tonk Women' group, and he's now insisted they had more range than the blues-orientated band. In an interview with The New Yorker, he said: “I’m not sure I should say it, but they’re a blues cover band, that’s sort of what the Stones are. “I think our net was cast a bit wider than theirs.” Macca, 79, previously insisted that while he's a big fan of the 'Paint it Black' rockers, he still thinks his own group was better. He said: "The Stones are a fantastic group, I go and see them every time they come out because they're a great band and Mick can really do it, the singing and the moves and everything, Keith, Ronnie, and Charlie, they're great, I love them. Their stuff is rooted in the blues, when they're writing stuff it's to do with the blues, whereas we had a little more influences. Keith once said, 'You're lucky man you have four singers in your band, we've got one'. I love the Stones but I'm with you, the Beatles were better." And Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger, 78, later responded to his peer's comments and pointed out that his band is still "lucky" enough to be performing stadium shows - unlike The Beatles, who disbanded in 1970. Jagger said: "There's obviously no competition. He [Paul] is a sweetheart. I'm a politician. The big difference, though, is that The Rolling Stones is a big concert band in other decades and other areas when The Beatles never even did an arena tour. They broke up before the touring business started for real. The Beatles did that [Shea] stadium gig in 1965. "But the Stones went on. We started stadium gigs in the 1970s and are still doing them now. That's the real big difference between these two bands. One band is unbelievably luckily still playing in stadiums and then the other band doesn't exist."
  20. British number two Cameron Norrie beat American Tommy Paul in three sets to reach the quarter-finals of the Indian Wells Masters. World number 26 Norrie won 6-4 4-6 6-2 to claim his 44th win on the ATP Tour this year. The 26-year-old left-hander has never previously reached this stage of a Masters 1000 tournament. Norrie will face Diego Schwartzman in the last eight after the Argentine beat Norway's Casper Rudd in straight sets. If Norrie were to advance past Schwartzman - who he beat in the first round of the 2020 US Open - it will see him replace Dan Evans as the British number one and may also provide enough ranking points to break into the world's top 20 for the first time in his career. It would also take him closer to the coveted half-century mark of wins on the ATP Tour in a single season. Andy Murray and Tim Henman are the only Britons to have achieved that feat on the elite men's circuit this millennium. Also on Wednesday, US Open champion Daniil Medvedev was knocked out by Grigor Dimitrov, losing 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Medvedev was the top seed at Indian Wells after winning his first Grand Slam title last month. He won the first set and was up 4-1 in the second when he collapsed, dropping eight straight games.
  21. When Stacey Freeman steps out to face Stockport County in one of the biggest FA Cup games in Stamford's history this weekend, he will look up to the sky and remember his friend who was killed on a night out. The former reality TV contestant wears a white wristband in memory of Connor Saunders, who died from head injuries after being attacked in the street. "We played football together, went to the same school, shared the same friends," says Freeman, who broke down in tears when he appeared in the E4 reality show Shipwrecked in 2019. The 28-year-old defender wants to encourage men to open up about their feelings. "You don't actually say how much you love someone until they are gone," says Freeman, who is set to line up for Northern Premier League Division One Midlands side Stamford at Edgeley Park in the fourth qualifying round on Saturday. "It had a big impact on our lives in the friend group." Freeman, a former model and body double, says men talking about their emotions is a strength - not a weakness. Before appearing on reality TV, he struggled to open up but says the show taught him to speak out about his feelings. "Never bottle things up and feel comfortable being you," he says. #icrybecause: Towie's male stars open up emotionally As part of his work as a model, Stacey Freeman (right) acted a body double for Tottenham defender Ben Davies for an advert. "People think you have to look exactly the same," says Freeman. "You don't. They had to edit out the tattoos on my arm." 'I didn't care about crying on TV' "I grew up boxing with older brothers. I know how to handle myself but there I was crying on television." Freeman is recalling the moment he broke down on the set of Shipwrecked, the show set on the pristine beaches of the Cook Islands featuring tasks, eliminations and blazing rows. He had been tasked with sending two people home and had to decide who to pick. "I was crying because those people were having a good time and I had connected with them," he says. "I was thinking to myself 'I've been crying for a solid 15-20 minutes and it's going to be on national TV'. "I wasn't scared how I would be portrayed. Being on Shipwrecked unlocked a part of me I never knew existed. "It made me realise I am an emotional person. What's the problem with crying and showing your emotions? "Prior to the show I struggled to open up. Growing up, I tried to be a tough guy. I'd break up with a girl and not be bothered." Freeman's friend Connor was tragically killed by just one punch in Brighton in 2012. He was 19. Nine years on, former Lewes, Eastbourne Borough and Whitehawk player Freeman gets emotional talking about him. The wristband he wears during matches features Connor's initials and favourite shirt number - as well as the number of lives he saved by donating his organs. "He made the selfless decision at the age of 16 to become an organ donor. Because of that he saved five lives," says Freeman. "Every single game I say a little prayer in my head for Connor."
  22. A 20-month absence was a challenging time for former Ballon d'Or winner Ada Hegerberg - and so as tears rolled down her face at the end of her return in the Women's Champions League, it was a reminder of what she - and football - had missed. Hegerberg, 26, suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in January 2020 when she was at the peak of her game. The Norwegian had broken the all-time Champions League goalscoring record four months previously - a year after netting a hat-trick in the final as Lyon notched up their fourth successive title. Last week she was able to "feel like a footballer again" as she came on as a substitute to face Hacken in Lyon's opening group game. "I feel like I have been reliving that moment through my head throughout all of these months," she told BBC Sport. "There were a lot of emotions and pure joy as well. It's a big road left ahead of me but that was like a big win. "I feel like I didn't need these 20 months to get a reminder of how much I loved football, but it certainly gave me another level of appreciation of the sport. It's my biggest passion and I feel like a little kid again when I play football and go to training. That's how it should be." She's back but there is still work to do. "You don't mess with the highest level and coming back to that," Hegerberg said. "I know I was at my best before these 20 months but I'm realistic in terms of being patient and knowing there's a lot of mental and physical work to be done. "This was a huge step but there's still some time left and a lot of hard work left. As long as you enjoy it and stay focused, I know with the work I put in, I will get there. I am absolutely sure about it." 'Aggressive & unpredictable' - what has changed for Arsenal? Manchester derby draws record TV audience Juventus' Joe Montemurro on '"surreal job" in Turin 'It's been an extreme experience' Hegerberg was in tears at full-time following the win over Hacken and was overwhelmed with emotion on her return Hegerberg describes her comeback as a "battle". It was compounded by the fact a large part of her rehabilitation took place during coronavirus restrictions. "It's very important to take care of yourself and know at every point where you are at," she said. "Are you doing too much? Are you doing enough? It's been a constant evaluation through these months. "I like to call it a battle because it's been an extreme experience. Putting Covid-19 on top of it made it more special. I always felt very privileged because I got the opportunity to go to the club, see my team-mates and just go physically to work. "I felt like I was in a good place regarding the whole situation. But obviously being separated from the team for such a long while has been very challenging. "I've had super agents who have been like brothers to me and my family and husband, who have been amazing. I also got to meet some people in the medical side who helped me get back to this place. It would have been very hard to be where I am without them." 'You know how to continue to win' Lyon won their fifth consecutive Champions League title in 2020, a few months after Hegerberg suffered her ACL injury While Hegerberg was injured, Lyon's five years of European dominance came to an end when they were knocked out in the quarter-finals of last season's Champions League. Barcelona were eventually crowned champions but Hegerberg is keen to help Lyon jump back to the top of the pile this season. "It's very important to look yourself in the mirror after a season like that," she said. "You look directly at what went wrong in order to - not do any quick fixes - but get down together and see what we have to do to be even better. "We don't want to hide. It's important to be honest. We have had a very good start to the season and the girls have been training very well. We have a new dynamic in the team with new players and a new coach. We are on a good wave. "Barcelona had a very good season but we won it five times in a row, which is just madness. At some point, something would happen. There are challenges at some point. You have to face them. "I have huge belief that we will do well this season because when you know how to win, you also know how to continue to win." The Women's Champions League will look to receive its largest ever audience this season, through a rights deal with broadcaster DAZN, who will show 61 matches on YouTube. Hegerberg said it came "at exactly the best time" and it is now up to the players to showcase what they can do to a new, global audience. "The whole organisation around it and how professional it was is the only thing we want - professionalism in everything we do," she said. "We want good coverage of these games. "We had some good matches last week but the season is long. I hope us, the players, stick to that and we deliver."
  23. The Football Association is set to learn if England have to play any home games behind closed doors as a result of the unrest at Wembley Stadium during the European Championship final. Uefa are due to hold their disciplinary hearing on Monday, with a verdict likely to be released within 24 hours of the tribunal concluding. Fans fought with stewards and police as they attempted to break into Wembley for the event on 11 July. England lost to Italy in the final. European football's governing body, Uefa, opened disciplinary proceedings into security breaches two days after the game was played. The English FA set up an independent review of their own a week later, saying it was determined to ensure the "disgraceful scenes" that marred the Euro 2020 final were "never able to be repeated". Hundreds of fans got into Wembley for the showpiece without tickets after areas around the stadium became packed hours before the evening kick-off. Many even sat in the area reserved for players' relatives. Uefa are likely to focus on whether the FA's security measures for the game were adequate. News of the hearing follows more unruly scenes at Wembley during Tuesday's World Cup qualifier against Hungary, which saw visiting supporters clash with stewards and police in the opening minutes. World football's governing body, Fifa, have opened a disciplinary case into the match and the one between Albania and Poland, which was also halted for 20 minutes as objects were thrown at the visiting Polish players. "Following an analysis of the match reports, Fifa has opened disciplinary proceedings in relation to yesterday's England v Hungary and Albania v Poland matches," said Fifa in a statement. "Once again, Fifa strongly condemns the incidents at both matches and would like to state that its position remains firm and resolute in rejecting any form of violence as well as any form of discrimination or abuse. Fifa has a very clear zero-tolerance stance against such abhorrent behaviour in football."
  24. The Italian takes charge of Watford for the first time on Saturday at home to Liverpool, four days before turning 70. Hodgson left Crystal Palace in May, just over two months before his 74th birthday. "Why not?" Ranieri told BBC Sport when asked if he could continue in management as long as Hodgson. "I am so young. I don't feel [my age]." Ranieri, who won the Premier League with Leicester City in 2015-16, added: "Football is my life. If I feel good, if I feel emotion, if I feel I have enough energy to give to my players, I want to continue." Former England boss Hodgson, whose career lasted 45 years, is in distinguished company with Sir Alex Ferguson, Neil Warnock and Sir Bobby Robson the only other Premier League managers who continued into their 70s. Watford are Ranieri's fourth Premier League club following spells at Chelsea, Leicester and Fulham. Welcome back to the Premier League, Ranieri 'In Italy this is normal' Although the Italian knows the Pozzo family, who own Watford, well - he almost became manager at their Serie A club Udinese earlier in his career - he also knows they are ruthless when it comes to getting rid of managers who are not meeting their high standards. Ranieri has been given a two-year contract but the longevity of Watford managers tends to be measured in months given the 14 changes made since the Pozzo family took control at Vicarage Road in 2012. "In Italy this is normal," said Ranieri of the frequent turnaround of managers. "Only in England was it not normal. But even here a lot of clubs have changed." It is not lost on Ranieri that he was sacked by Fulham in 2019 after only 106 days in charge. And, despite steering Leicester to their staggering Premier League title triumph in 2016, he was dismissed the following season. Ranieri's popularity means he will be welcomed back to England. The 'Tinkerman' nickname he was given at Chelsea and the famous 'dilly-ding, dilly-dong' catchphrase he coined at Leicester as he tried to take the pressure off his players on the run-in to their momentous achievement have gone down in Premier League folklore. Judging by Ranieri's demeanour during his first round of media engagements, a smile will never be far away. But, after a 35-year career, Ranieri knows that will count for nothing if Watford cannot get positive results. "I can laugh as much as I want," he said. "If I don't get any points, the laughing is finished."
  25. Wales and Bournemouth midfielder David Brooks has revealed he has been diagnosed with cancer. The 24-year-old said he has Stage 2 Hodgkin lymphoma but that "the prognosis is a positive one" and will start treatment next week. Brooks, who has won 21 Wales caps, was on international duty last week and credits the Wales medical team for helping detect the illness. "This is a very difficult message for me to write," said Brooks. "I have been diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin lymphoma and will begin a course of treatment next week. "Although this has come as a shock to myself and my family, the prognosis is a positive one and I am confident that I will make a full recovery and be back playing as soon as possible." Hodgkin lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphatic system, an important part of the immune system. "I'd like to show my appreciation to the doctors, nurses, consultants and staff who have been treating me for their professionalism, warmth and understanding during this period," Brooks said. "I want to thank everyone at the Football Association of Wales because without the swift attention of their medical team we may not have detected the illness. "I'd also like to say thank you to AFC Bournemouth for all of their support and assistance this past week." Brooks has played nine times for Championship side Bournemouth this season, scoring three goals, but his football career will now be on hold as he begins treatment. "Although I appreciate that there will be media attention and interest, I would like to ask that my privacy is respected in the coming months and I will share updates on my progress when I am able to do so," Brooks added. "In the meantime, thank you to everyone for their messages of support - it means so much and will continue to do so in the months ahead. "I look forward to seeing you all again and playing the sport I love very soon." Both Wales and Bournemouth have offered their support and best wishes to Brooks during his treatment. Brooks, who made three appearances for Wales at Euro 2020, last played in the Cherries' goalless draw against Peterborough on 29 September, when he came off after 69 minutes. Wales announced on 6 October that he had withdrawn from their latest squad through illness.
