Ryanair passenger who branded woman, 77, an ‘ugly black b*****d’ in vile rant

A RYANAIR passenger filmed calling a woman an "ugly black b*****d" in a vile mid-air rant will not face prosecution in the UK.

David Mesher, 70, unleashed the vile tirade against 77-year-old Delsie Gayle during a row on a plane from Barcelona to Stansted Airport last October.

Essex Police launched an investigation and Mr Mesher was interviewed at his home in Birmingham but have now announced he cannot be prosecuted by UK cops.

The pensioner could only face criminal action through the Spanish police force.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "Following disturbing footage on social media we have completed a thorough investigation into reports a woman was subjected to racial verbal abuse on a stationary plane at Barcelona Airport.

“The incident took place on October 19 last year and was reported to us when the victim returned to the UK.

“Although the offence did not happen within the jurisdiction of England or Wales, we conducted a thorough investigation and sought advice from the Crown Prosecution Service.

"They did not have the jurisdiction to advise on any charging decision.

“We have completed our enquiries as far as we are legally able to, given that the incident did not happen within our jurisdiction and are now in contact with the Spanish legal authorities so that they can determine how they wish to proceed.”

Spanish police are understood to have passed a file to local prosecutors.

HORROR OF PASSENGER BRANDED 'BLACK B*****D'
Delsie Gayle, 77, said only one Ryanair steward intervened during the verbal tirade and asked her to move seats instead of Mr Mesher.

The Windrush generation migrant had been on her way home to London Stansted from a trip to Barcelona on Friday when she was abused.

She said after the incident: "I feel very low. He paid a fare to go on holiday, I've paid mine so why does he abuse me for that due to the colour of my skin?"

In the video, Mr Mesher demands the pensioner move before calling her an "ugly, black b******."

Crew members could be seen moving the elderly widow to another seat as he continues his disgusting rant.

Mr Mesher later refused to apologise when appearing on Good Morning Britain, saying he had just 'lost my temper'.

He said: "I'm not a racist person by any means and it's just a fit of temper at the time I think."

Reaching out to Delsie directly, he continued: "I apologise for all the distress you had there and since."

He was labelled a "bully" and a "weirdo" by his neighbours in Birmingham following the racist rant.

Ryanair passed the incident to Essex Police, the force area where Stansted Airport is based at the time of the incident.
