Cardi B scores first film role in ‘Hustlers'

She'll appear alongside Constance Wu, Jennifer Lopez and more

Cardi B has landed her first film role in the upcoming movie Hustlers, it has been confirmed.

The movie will also star Crazy Rich Asians’ Constance Wu, Jennifer Lopez, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart and Julie Stiles.

Hustlers is based on an article published in The Cut in 2015 titled ‘The Hustlers At Scores’. The piece detailed a group of strippers who conned wealthy Wall Street workers out of money.

The Meddler’s Lorene Scafaria will write and direct the movie. It will be produced by Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, and Benny Medina. No release date has been set at present.

In a statement, Adam Fogelson, chairman of production company STX Films, said: “We could not have asked for a more exciting or talented lineup of performers to join our cast. STX is thrilled to reunite with Jennifer, Elaine, and Benny to bring this unexpected, entertaining and often shocking story to the big screen for audiences worldwide.”

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with this dynamic group of women,” added Scafaria. “We’re grateful to have assembled such a powerhouse cast and can’t wait to start filming at the end of the week.”

Cardi recently released her second collaboration with Bruno Mars in the form of single ‘Please Me’. The track was the first new music to be released by the rapper since she became the first woman to win the Grammy for Best Rap Album.

The star has teased the release of more new music over recent months and appeared on Offset’s first solo album, ‘Father Of 4’. She will perform at her first Las Vegas residency later this year and has been confirmed to headline festivals including Wireless and Longitude this summer.
