Fallout 76 Hackers Are Robbing Player-Inventories

The festive season has brought no joy to Fallout 76. The berated installment was already riddled with a number of issues, many of which have gone unnoticed by Bethesda Softworks. You can now add another one to the ever-growing list.

According to a new post on Reddit earlier today, Fallout 76 has been invaded by a new kind of hack that allows players to rob others of their inventory items and that too on public servers. Your weapons, armor, consumables, and just about any other items are at a risk of being stolen. The only things that are safe from the hack are caps, scrip, and items kept in a stash box.

It has been theorized that this nasty Fallout 76 hack works remotely, which means that the hacker only needs to be present in your vicinity to clean out your inventory. Reportedly, even if the hacker is within render distance, they can access to all available player-inventories within range.

The most frustrating part about this ordeal is that there’s no way to identify the hackers. Anyone you meet in the wasteland could potentially have injected the hack on their systems, making it scary to go out there. The only solution is not to play on the public servers. Those with active subscriptions to Fallout 1st can stick to private servers for the time being to protect their wares. Fallout 76 is indeed under attack. Unfortunately, with the holidays around the corner, a fix will most probably arrive after.

Earlier this month, Fallout 76 received a new update that immediately broke all endgame builds. What players discovered was that reloading your weapons may cause your legendary armor effects to break. A legendary armor with a defensive value of 519 at the start gets dropped down to 414 after the player finishes reloading, for example.

Saying that Fallout 76 has had issues since launch would be an understatement. The game has been riddled with issues from day one and every second update has more or less broken the game even further. It almost seems like for every problem that Bethesda Softworks fixes, two new bugs get birthed.

Last month, the Australian Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (ACCC) made sure that Bethesda Softworks honors refunds for Fallout 76. That being said, only purchases made between November 24, 2018 and June 1, 2019 will be taken into consideration. Anyone in the country who purchased Fallout 76 afterwards won’t be eligible for a refund.
