About the Contest:

We're pleased to announce the second design contest for the what.cd online store, What.CD's one-stop shop for What.CD-related merchandise and apparel! After receiving a wealth of stunning apparel design submissions for the first contest, we've decided to center our second design contest around something many of you have been clamoring for:

drinkware! That's right--we're asking users to create a What.CD-themed design suitable for a mug!

We're looking forward to seeing what you all come up with, and remember: your designs will help fund What.CD in the days ahead. Design criteria will be listed below. The submission period will begin at the time of this posting, and submissions will be closed by the end of May 31st. Our first wave of designers have already become a part of What.CD history, and now you have a chance to join their ranks. May the best artist win!

About the Store:

The What.CD Online Store is What.CD's official storefront designed in conjunction with Port Merch, a full-service merchandise company providing solutions for bands, artists, record labels and your favorite private tracker. Aside from earnings allocated for overhead and labor costs, profits earned via The What.CD Online Store will be put toward the costs of running and operating What.CD, and Staff members will not profit from store earnings.

Design Eligibility:

In order for a design to be considered eligible, it must meet the necessary criteria outlined in the Guidelines & Restrictions section. While designs may potentially used for purposes other than mug printing per the artist's approval at a later date (see the legalese below),

we expect all valid submissions to be suitable for placement on a basic mug or other traditional form of drinkware.

Winners, Runners-up and Prizes:

The second design contest for The What.CD Online Store will result in a single winner and up to three runners-up. The winner and runners-up will be selected internally via Staff jury. A public vote will be held after the contest concludes in order to determine the community favorites. The prize breakdown is as follows:

  • The Winner Receives: Two mugs printed with the winning design, and two shirts (a $50 value) from The What.CD Online Store.
  • Runners-up Receive: One mug printed with the winning design, and one shirt (a $25 value) from The What.CD Online Store.
  • Future Guarantee: Whenever a design runner-up is used for any purpose in the future (pending the artist's approval), the creator of that design will be entitled to one free item bearing the design (upon request).
