Anne Hathaway Cast In Pandemic-Heist-Romcom From Director Doug Liman

A new pandemic heist/rom-com, Lockdown, from prolific director Doug Liman, is on its way and it stars Anne Hathway in a lead role. After directing Tom Cruise in the Edge of Tomorrow, Liman has recently been in the news for his plans to send the Top Gun actor (literally) into space for his new movie. Liman's upcoming flick with Hathaway is, however, is a much more modest venture, which is expected to film in London this year. Lockdown is written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, while P.J. van Sandwijk and Alison Winter serve as its producers.

As revealed by Deadline, Hathaway has signed on to star in the upcoming Liman pandemic heist film. While details about Hathaway's character have not yet been disclosed, it has been confirmed that the new movie will showcase a confining premise that is set in the awful reality of today. Hathaway will reportedly begin filming for Lockdown by September's end, and she will soon be joined by other key actors. Earlier, Cillian Murphy was also approached for an important part in the film, but the deal apparently did not materialize.

Since the coronavirus pandemic is still ongoing, Lockdown's premise raises some logical questions about the film's ultimate appeal. But given that the film is the safe hands of the ingenious Liman and Oscar-winner Hathaway will play the lead, viewers can put their trust in its quality. Discussions with A Quiet Place 2's Cillian Murphy also indicate that the makers are eyeing reputable actors for the film. Thus, it is safe to expect the film to feature a star-studded cast besides Hathaway.
