Eddie Redmayne, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Keaton, Frank Langella, Alex Sharp, Jeremy Strong and John Carroll Lynch also star in the anti-Vietnam War protest drama slated to begin streaming Oct. 16 on Netflix.

It's protesters versus the police in the trailer for Aaron Sorkin's The Trial of the Chicago 7.

The Netflix film's all-star cast — including Eddie Redmayne, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sacha Baron Cohen, Michael Keaton, Frank Langella, Alex Sharp, Jeremy Strong and John Carroll Lynch — are all featured in the nearly three-minute trailer teasing the case against the group of anti-Vietnam War protesters who were charged with conspiracy and inciting to riot around the 1968 Democratic convention in Chicago.

"We watched for over a decade while these rebels without a job tell us how to prosecute a war," John Doman's John Mitchell charges in the early moments of the trailer. "Well, they're going to spend their early 30s in a federal facility. Real time."

The trailer quickly pivots to the Chicago Police Department and National Guard arming themselves against a group of peaceful protestors, lead by Baron Cohen's Abbie Hoffman. As the group heads to the DNC to stage a peaceful protest, they're met with an overwhelming line of armored and armed officers.

The trailer then formally introduces the "Chicago 7" — Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin (Jeremy Strong), David Dellinger (John Carroll Lynch), Rennie Davis (Alex Sharp), Lee Weiner (Noah Robbins), John Froines (Daniel Flaherty), Tom Hayden (Eddie Redmayne) and recent Emmy winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Bobby Seale — as they all sit in a courtroom facing charges from prosecutor Richard Schultz, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, of inciting a riot.

As the seven defendants seek a fair trial, Frank Langella as Judge Julius Hoffman can be seen throwing the case and working against the men at every turn, from jury tampering to denying representation. A wave of public support and protests backing the seven men emerges, a response that only grows as the group decides to take a stand as "the whole world is watching."

"This is what revolution looks like. Real revolution," Cohen's Abbie Hoffman says.

Originally slated for a theatrical release through Paramount Pictures before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down theaters nationwide, The Trial of the Chicago 7 will begin streaming Oct. 16 on Netflix.
