Fox is locking in two of its long-running animated series for additional seasons.

The network has given two-season renewals to Family Guy and Bob's Burgers, which will keep both shows on the air through the 2022-23 season. The pickups will take Family Guy through its 20th season on the network and Bob's Burgers through its 13th.

"Family Guy and Bob's Burgers are key pillars of our network's success. By taking the genre to new heights and driving pop culture in meaningful ways, they've laid the foundation for making Animation Domination one of the most powerful program blocks in all of television," said Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn. "Both of these two-season renewals affirm once again our commitment to animation and empower us to continue in our build as the leader in the space with distinct and fresh new comedies. We'd like to thank Seth [MacFarlane], Loren [Bouchard] and their entire teams, not to mention our partners at 20th Television, and we're excited to continue these great shows with them."

Disney's 20th Television produces both series, along with the network's other Sunday animated shows, The Simpsons — which begins its record-extending 32nd season on Sunday — and sophomore entries Bless the Harts and Duncanville. Fox Entertainment co-produces the latter two, as it's done for most of its new series since the 2018 sale of what was then called 20th Century Fox TV and other assets to Disney left the network without an affiliated studio.

The Simpsons also earned a two-season pickup in early 2019 and is going into the back half of that deal in 2020-21. All of Fox's Sunday animated block is set to debut Sunday, as production on the four shows (including Bless the Harts) was able to continue remotely during the coronavirus pandemic.

Fox has made animation a key part of its strategy, having acquired Bob's Burgers animation studio Bento Box last year and giving series orders to The Great North — which has already been renewed for a second season — and Housebroken. Both shows are animated by Bento Box. Fox is also developing an animated comedy set in the world of The X-Files and has made a direct broadcast deal with Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon that includes a series commitment for an animated show.
