'Woke' Renewed for Season 2 at Hulu

Hulu is staying Woke.

The Disney-backed streamer has renewed scripted comedy Woke for a second season consisting of eight new episodes. A return date has not yet been determined.

Starring Lamorne Morris (New Girl), the comedy is inspired by the life of artist Keith Knight and was picked up to series in late 2019.

A co-production between Sony Pictures Television and ABC Signature, the series launched in September and currently has a 76 percent and 60 percent rating among critics and viewers, respectively, on aggregate site RottenTomatoes.com. Hulu, like other streamers, does not release traditional viewership data.

Marshall Todd and Knight co-created the series and exec produce alongside Jay Dyer, Maurice "Mo" Marable, Aeysha Carr, Richie Schwartz, John Will, Will Gluck and Eric Christian Olsen. T. Murph and Blake Anderson co-star. Sasheer Zamata and Rose McIver guest star.

Woke is part of a Hulu scripted roster that also includes Ramy, Shrill, Pen15 anad Amy Schumer's upcoming comedy Life and Beth.
