The Epic Game Store's holiday sale is giving away Tropico 5 free of charge from now until tomorrow, December 24 at 11:00am EST. Epic Games is no stranger to providing its customers with freebies every so often. However, the holiday sale serves as an example of the storefront kicking things up a notch. Every day for the rest of this month, users can expect a different game to become available for free on the platform.

Late last week, a list of the supposed offerings for the Epic Games Store's holiday sale leaked online. And, thus far, it's proving to have been at least partially accurate. According to the leaked list of free games, the storefront would give away titles such as Stranded Deep, Metro 2033, and Alien: Isolation. The latter two were given away earlier in the week on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Today, another game from the previously leaked list has become available.

Haemimont Games' Tropico 5, which originally hit PC in 2014, counts as today's free game on the Epic Games Store. Between now and December 24 at 11:00am EST, the store's users can download the city builder at no extra cost. The official Epic Games Store Twitter page shared the news, confirming that yet another freebie is scheduled to go live tomorrow. As of now, there exists no official word on what the next offering will include. However, the aforementioned leak has it that Inside will be the next free game.

The predecessor to last year's Tropico 6, Tropico 5 is a city builder and management simulator that challenges players to grow the remote island nation of Tropico. It's not quite as simple as it sounds, though. The nation's expansion takes far more into account than just the present-day. Rather, players are tasked with building Tropico from the nation's colonial period all the way into the 21st century. Trading mechanics, scientific research, and technological advancements add depth to the overall experience, guaranteeing a significant time investment that many a player may find worthwhile.

So far, the Epic Games Store holiday giveaways have provided diverse titles. There's something for everyone it seems. And even if one offering isn't someone's particular cup of tea, trying something new for free couldn't hurt. Freebies such as Metro 2033 and Tropico 5 are especially timely, serving as great starting points for series that released brand-new entries last year.

Epic Games Store customers can download Tropico 5 for free from now until December 24 at 11:00am EST.
