Devolver Digital Teases Fans With 5 Unannounced Games For 2021

Devolver Digital, the indie publisher behind titles such as Hotline Miami, has teased that there are five unannounced games it plans to showcase sometime next year. For the last 10-plus years, the Austin-based company has helped deliver some of the most compelling game experiences on the market.

It all started with Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter, an HD remake of the 2001 title that Devolver Digital released on PC and Xbox 360 in 2009. The publisher brought several remarkable titles in the decade and change that followed. Of course, Hotline Miami counts among the most notable of such projects; the same can be said of The Talos Principle and The Messenger. This year seemed an especially good year for Devolver Digital, given the meteoric success of Mediatonic's Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout.

Interestingly, 2021 could very well represent another big year for the indie publisher. This much seems evident by a recent tease shared on the official Devolver Digital Twitter account. According to the post in question, the company will distribute five presently unannounced games throughout next year. There's no hint as to what either of them could entail, nor is there word on whether these particular titles are sequels to existing properties or new IP entirely. A lack of details hasn't kept fans from taking guessing, though. Unsurprisingly, a quick look through the replies indicates many would like to see Hotline Miami 3; however, most also realize such a project is unlikely. (At least the series recently resurfaced via a Fall Guys skin.)

Again, the five unannounced Devolver Digital games could be any number of things from a wide variety of studios. After all, Devolver is known for teaming up with companies both big and small. There could be titles in the works that even the most knowledgeable fans couldn't begin to guess. And that's the beauty of what Devolver Digital does in general, finding diamonds in the rough, while also continuing to build upon the foundations it and its various partners have already laid.

The publisher has previously revealed a few titles that are set to roll out during the new year. Flying Wild Hog's Shadow Warrior 3, which Devolver Digital unveiled in an action-packed gameplay trailer in July, serves as just one of the many games confirmed for 2021. As of now, the shooter lacks a firm release date.
