Epic Games New HQ Being Converted From Massive Former Shopping Mall

Epic Games has recently acquired a new area to call home (and headquarters), which they will be transforming into a brand new campus by 2024. The old building happened to be a former shopping mall, so there will be plenty of space for offices, as well as other facilities as well.

Epic Games has been in the same headquarters for the last 20 years, calling Cary, North Carolina it's home. In those twenty years, there have been multiple hit games that have come from Epic, such as Gears of War, Infinity Blade, and the classic battle royale, Fortnite. The latter game has blown up since its release, with the launch of multiple spinoffs, tons of merchandise, and plenty of streamers becoming famous due to their playing skills.

With their games growing more popular, it seemed like the right time for Epic Games to make the switch. This new facility, with was once called the Cary Towne Center, has 980,000 square footage as well as 87-acres of campus, giving them room for office buildings as well as recreational spaces for employees to use. The facility is set to be completed by 2024, but in the interim, they will continue to operate out of Crossroads Boulevarde until the new HQ is ready to go. The mayor of Cary, Harold Weinbrecht, recently said that the community of Cary is "extremely proud that Epic has chosen to call Cary home for their new global headquarters", and they look forward to continuing to "work closely" with Epic as the stages of development continue.

Epic Games has been located in North Carolina for some time, so it's not a surprise that they chose an area that wouldn't be too far from the original campus. The company has been growing immensely over the last three years since the release of Fortnite, and most likely needs a new space to call home so they can continue to add more content to the game. Just recently they came out with a Fortnite subscription service that allows players to unlock exclusive skins and weapons. Not only that, but they've recently come out with another version of the game, Fortnite: Save the World, which has proven to be much different than the typical battle royale that the original Fornite had.

It's clear that Epic Games is constantly trying to keep player engagement up, and there's no chance that their games are going anywhere anytime soon, especially Fortnite. With this new headquarters, they will surely be bringing even more to the table in the future - along with some new titles as well.
