Sex and the City stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis will reportedly make more than $1 million per episode from the HBO Max reboot. Created by Darren Star, the hit HBO series originally ran for six seasons from 1998 to 2004. Partly based on Candace Bushnell’s book of the same name, Sex and the City followed the life of Carrie Bradshaw (Parker), a New York City columnist with a fashion flair, and her three best friends Miranda (Nixon), Samantha (Kim Cattrall), and Charlotte (Davis). Carrie narrated as the four women navigated romance, careers, and friendships together in Manhattan. The show was a massive success, winning multiple Emmy awards and spawning two movies and a CW prequel spinoff series.

The show cemented itself as a pop culture phenomenon of 1990s-early 2000s television, with talks of a reboot for a while. It was first reported last month that a reboot was in the works at HBO Max, and on Sunday, the streaming service confirmed the show's return. The new series, titled And Just Like That... as a reference to a line often spoken on the original show, will follow Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte as they navigate life in their 50s. While Parker, Nixon, and Davis are set to reprise their respective roles, Cattrall will not be returning. While the fan-favorite Samantha will be missing from the new show, the three remaining stars might be getting a big payday.

A report from Variety claims that Parker, Nixon, and Davis will earn over $1 million per episode of the HBO Max reboot. Along with returning to their classic roles, the three are also set to executive produce the 10-episode series, along with Michael Patrick King.

Parker, Nixon, and Davis are three of the latest television stars to join the $1 million-per-episode club, which also includes Steve Carell for Netflix's Space Force, Nicole Kidman for Hulu's Nine Perfect Strangers, Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington for Hulu's Little Fires Everywhere, as well as Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston for Apple TV+'s The Morning Show. The three stars' salaries might not be surprising to fans considering the massive financial success of the franchise in the past. The first Sex and the City film earned over $418 million worldwide in 2008, and while 2010's Sex and the City 2 was panned by critics, it still garnered $294 million worldwide.

The Sex and the City reboot has been a long time coming, and fans are likely delighted to see three of the four iconic characters return to their TVs. While reboots can be hit-or-miss, the show is likely to be a success considering fans have been asking for it for years. Plus, the three stars now have a big incentive to make the show as great as possible.
