I just wanted to add that the reason the big name sites are so important and so expensive to buy your way into comes down to 1 thing (with the exception of Broadcast the Net, they have an extra thing) - Retention.  

Most sites have everything new, and several cuts of it.  Hell, I still go to 1337X to download YIFY TV episodes I miss so it doesn't impact my private ratios.  The best sites have great cuts of things that got posted 15 years ago and are still being seeded.  PTP says their server costs are around a grand a month.  I was just on one of my trackers that has only reached 32% of their monthly donation goal with one day left in the month and I guarantee they don't have the server costs PTP does.  You cannot keep 15 year old trackers alive 32% of a $500 donation.  PTP has a strong community that keeps their projects funded.  Is it worth $400 to get in?  Yes.  Are you willing to pay $400 to get into a tracker ... that's on you. 

 

BTW - BTN also has no ratio - so, retention and no ratio - I don't even know how they manage it.
