A new Mission: Impossible 7 set photo shows Tom Cruise hanging off the side of a train. Ever since a recording of Cruise's controversial rant on the set of Mission: Impossible 7 surfaced, production on the next installment of the M:I franchise has been humming along without making many headlines. However, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to pose challenges for Paramount's release schedule with M:I 7 being delayed multiple times. The most recent reshuffling set M:I 7's release back to 2022 and the next installment Mission: Impossible 8 to 2023.

Christopher McQuarrie, who has been responsible for the last two M:I movies, is returning to direct the next two installments. Mission: Impossible 7 will act as a follow-up to 2018's Mission: Impossible – Fallout which many consider to be the best film in Cruise's long-running franchise after it grossed $791 million worldwide and surpassed 2011's Ghost Protocol as the highest-grossing film in the franchise. Though Fallout had its issues during production as well. Cruise suffered a highly-publicized injury when he broke his ankle during a rooftop jump in London, causing a long delay in production. Despite his past injuries and the star turning 59 in a few months, Cruise stills perform all his own signature stunts.

The most recent look at a death-defying stunt by Cruise on the set of Mission: Impossible 7 comes courtesy of director Christopher McQuarrie's Instagram. The set photo shows Cruise hanging off the side of a train as Ethan Hunt. Check out McQuarrie's post below:

McQuarrie's photo is captioned with "We had an amazing week in fabulous Yorkshire. We’ll be back for one last bit of mischief in short order," which seems to suggest that M:I 7 will wrap shooting soon, or at least finish filming in that specific location. This set photo was likely taken around the same time Cruise saved a cameraman from falling off a moving train during a scene he was filming with co-star, Hayley Atwell. Other than Cruise headlining as Hunt, Mission: Impossible 7 will also see franchise veterans Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg return alongside Vanessa Kirby, Rebecca Ferguson, and Angela Bassett.

Based on this set photo, it appears the scene they are filming will likely be a callback to the high-speed train sequence from the original Mission: Impossible movie from 1996. This photo is a look at what will surely be many of Cruise's signature stunts on the set of Mission: Impossible 7.
