Black Adam: Hawkman Actor Aldis Hodge Starts Filming

Recommended Posts

Black Adam's Hawkman actor Aldis Hodge confirms he's now filming the DC Extended Universe movie. Dwayne Johnson has been attached to play DC's anti-hero, Black Adam, for over a decade. After forgoing plans to include him as the villain of Shazam!, DC and Warner Bros. gave Johnson a DC solo movie. Black Adam spent years in development trying to get off the ground, but the movie finally started to take shape over the last year.

The positive movement on Black Adam recently allowed the movie to begin production at long last. Directed by Jaume Collet-Sera, the blockbuster film will expand the DCEU by introducing several new characters, in addition to Black Adam. This will be done with the introduction of the Justice Society of America team. The initial roster includes Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), and Hawkman (Aldis Hodge). Now after Johnson confirmed that Black Adam started filming, Hodge revealed that he's reported to set.

Aldis Hodge shared an image on Instagram of his Hawkman trailer door for Black Adam to commemorate the first day of filming for him. The actor is fresh off appearing in Regina King's One Night in Miami and Leigh Whannell's The Invisible Man. He is expected to portray the Carter Hall version of Hawkman from DC Comics.

Now that Hodge is filming Black Adam, it might not be long before fans are treated to the first look at his costume. Hawkman's potential design for the movie was teased in concept art but that is very different from seeing Hodge in the suit. It is possible WB and DC will allow Johnson or Hodge to share an official look at Hawkman's suit for Black Adam during production. If that doesn't happen, there is also the chance that set photos will be where the first look at Hawkman's suit comes from. Based on Hodge's Black Adam workout photos, Hawkman will be ripped in his big-screen debut.

With the movie's July 2022 release date and recent start to production, there is a strong possibility that fans will see the first trailer for Black Adam sometime this year. The recent announcement of DC FanDome happening again could be where an official look at the movie debuts. Hopefully, we don't have to wait that long for some glimpse at the film, especially with Johnson's tendency to use his social media presence to hype up his next projects. Some early looks at Black Adam's superheroes could do just that, and that is now a possibility with other actors reporting to set.

Dave Bautista recently commented that shooting Spectre, the 24th installment of the James Bond franchise, was a nightmare. In the film, Bautista plays one of SPECTRE's main henchmen, Hinx. The film sees Bond working to unmask the evil organization known as SPECTRE and run by Christoph Waltz's Ernst Blofeld. The reveal of Blofeld was meant to be kept under
