Andrew Garfield shuts down rumors that he'll appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home as Peter Parker with a very long denial. Marvel Studios and Sony rebooted Spider-Man several years ago to incorporate the character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tom Holland's Spider-Man has become a very popular interpretation of the character. Holland has played Spider-Man in five MCU movies so far, and his next appearance will come as the lead of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Official details on the movie have been closely guarded, but there are multiple signs about it incorporating the multiverse.

With the multiverse expected to factor into Spider-Man: No Way Home, there are countless rumors about who could appear. Past Spider-Man villains like Alfred Molina's Doc Ock and Jamie Foxx's Electro are set to appear. Reports even point to Daredevil star Charlie Cox playing Matt Murdock. The biggest rumor swirling around Spider-Man: No Way Home is that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will appear as their former versions of Spider-Man. Those involved with the film, including Holland, have continued to deny these rumors are accurate. Now, Garfield has emphatically done the same.

During a recent interview with Josh Horowitz for his Happy Sad Confused Podcast, Andrew Garfield was asked about the validity of the Spider-Man: No Way Home cameo rumors. Garfield immediately jumps in to say that the speculation has gotten out of control and that he isn't in the movie and hasn't been called about making an appearance. His advice to fans is for them to chill and temper their expectations for him to play The Amazing Spider-Man's version of the web-slinger again in Spider-Man: No Way Home. See his full response in the video below:

Now that Andrew Garfield has denied his involvement with Spider-Man: No Way Home, it will be up to fans to decide whether or not they believe him. Garfield is well aware that many won't buy his denial and compared his situation to playing games like Werewolf or Mafia where you have to convince the other people playing that you aren't the secret evil minority. That is an apt comparison to make here. Fans know that even if Garfield has a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Marvel and Sony have clearly made this fact the top secret to keep, so he wouldn't be able to say the truth right now anyway. There is also the chance Garfield is telling the truth right now but that Marvel will call him at the last second to make the cameo happen.

As long as the potential appearances of Garfield and Maguire's Spider-Men remain a secret, there will continue to be those who believe the rumors and those who don't. It is likely that we won't know for sure until Spider-Man: No Way Home is released in theaters later this year. Unless Marvel and Sony change course and confirm the appearance ahead of time or show them in the trailers, Garfield and those associated with the film will have to continue to shut down these rumors - even if they do turn out to be true. And if Garfield is ultimately telling the truth, hopefully fans won't count false rumors against whatever story Spider-Man: No Way Home tells instead.
