Peacock confirms Psych 3: This Is Gus is officially happening and reveals the first story details. Though beloved USA series Psych came to an end in 2014, it's still enjoying a longer lifespan courtesy of multiple television movies. The show itself followed best friends Shawn Spencer (James Roday Rodriguez) and Burton "Gus" Guster (Dulé Hill) as they solved numerous mysteries on behalf of the Santa Barbara Police Department. Shawn used his incredible observation skills to pass himself off as a psychic, which allowed him to get involved with cases despite the constant irritation of those on the force.

Psych has so far received two follow-up movies, with the second arriving on Peacock just last summer. Psych 2: Lassie Come Home continued Shawn and Gus' story and featured the triumphant return of Timothy Omundson's Carlton Lassiter, who suffered a stroke just ahead of the first movie's production. At the time of Psych 2's premiere, there was some talk of a third movie. Up until now, however, there was no guarantee that it would ever happen.

According to TVLine, Peacock has officially given the greenlight to Psych 3: This Is Gus. Much like how the second film put Lassie in the title and gave him a special focus, the threequel looks to do the same with Hill's Gus. Psych 3: This Is Gus will pick up on the eve of "Groomzilla" Gus' shotgun wedding to fiancée Selene (Jazmyn Simon) and the birth of their child, with Shawn and Gus embarking on a mission to find Selene's estranged husband. Peacock confirmed the news on social media with a video spotlighting fans' requests to see a third Psych movie, which you can see down below.

Production on Psych 3: This Is Gus is expected to begin this summer in Vancouver. Aside from Shawn and Gus' newest escapades, the film will see Lassie grappling with the future of his career, meaning Omundson will be back alongside Rodriguez and Hill. Additionally, Maggie Lawson (Juliet O'Hara), Kirsten Nelson (Karen Vick), and Corbin Bernsen (Henry Spencer) will return for Psych 3: This Is Gus.

With filming slated to take place later this year, Psych 3: This Is Gus could premiere on Peacock early next year. That Psych has managed to return for not one but three movies shows just how beloved the series is. Shawn and Gus are such an entertaining pair that it's hard to resist tuning in for more adventures with them, and it's nice to know the rest of the main cast will still be involved. Whether other figures from the show's past could return, but fans should perhaps brace for surprises After all, Psych 2: Lassie Come Home had plenty of cameos, so it stands to reason the third movie will as well. Let the speculation begin!
