New promotional images have begun surfacing from Matt Reeves' upcoming The Batman offering fans a new look at the redesigned Batmobile of the film including fiery exhausts and bright headlights. Acting as a reboot of the titular hero's film franchise, the story centers on a young Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, as he explores the corruption in Gotham City in his second year of fighting crime as well as hunting down a serial killer known as The Riddler. Robert Pattinson leads an ensemble cast in the titular role alongside Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright and Zoë Kravitz.

Development on a new solo Batman film has been underway for seven years, with the original plan to have it be tied to the DC Extended Universe and Ben Affleck set to direct, produce, star and co-write with Geoff Johns. However, after struggling with the script, production on Justice League and his private addictions, Affleck stepped down from both the project and the role and Reeves cast Pattinson as the Dark Knight in May 2019. Production on the film and its release has hit multiple speed bumps due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but is currently set to hit theaters on March 4, 2022.

DR Movie News took to its Twitter account to unveil the new promotional poster leaked from the film with the new look at the Batmobile. The batch of leaked photos also included a more detailed and close-up look at Pattison's titular hero and his Batsuit from the forthcoming film. The images can be viewed below:

The titular hero's vehicles have always been one of the more exciting gadgets in his arsenal to witness on screen, but the Batmobile is certainly the most iconic and the one with the most redesigns across the on-screen media. From the odder bubble-like car of the Adam West era to the transforming tank from Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy, there have been countless great uses of the vehicle but rarely one that felt memorable or had a purpose for more than a couple of minutes. Given Wright's comments about how the Batmobile is "special" and really drew him to the project, it seems safe to say that the vehicle will be used in a more meaningful manner for the next film.

Even if Warner Bros. comes out and shuts down the poster as strictly fan art, it's hard to imagine the Batmobile seen on it being that far off from the film's depiction of it. While fans can continue debating whether the new design of Dano's Riddler is terrifying or underwhelming, there shouldn't be any denying the muscled-up Batmobile is sure to wow when it arrives. Audiences will have to wait and see how the final result turns out when The Batman hits theaters on March 4, 2022.
