Dwayne Johnson has shared a new image of his character from the set of Black Adam. The Rock has been involved in the development of a Black Adam movie for over a decade, yet the film has faced numerous delays and setbacks. Johnson was officially cast as Black Adam back in 2014 and was supposed to appear in 2019's Shazam. However, that plan was scrapped in favor of giving each character their own solo films first.

DC FanDome gave the first look at Black Adam last June with the reveal of the anti-hero's suit via concept art and an animated concept trailer. Several key characters have been cast since then including Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Dr. Fate (Pierce Brosnan), and Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo), and filming just began on the superhero movie last month after being delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Rock has shared countless photos of his workout routine for Black Adam, but he's now shared an official look at the film.

Johnson shared the new image from Black Adam on his Instagram account. Johnson's photo doesn't show Black Adam's finished superhero look, but rather his character covered in a black cloak. The actor also briefly described the character's mythology and again reiterated that the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change.

Johnson gave an update on filming along with the image, saying that production was going "great." This will surely be a relief as the release date for Black Adam has already been pushed back several times. Most productions are up and running now that COVID-19 vaccines are starting to roll out around the world, so it's very possible that Black Adam will finish filming in time to meet its July 2022 release date. With filming going smoothly as of right now, DC will also likely have more Black Adam content to share at DC FanDome 2021, if not sooner.

The new look at Black Adam might not fully reveal his costume, but it is the first official look at the character on set. While most of Johnson's body is covered in the shot, his boots indicate that he might be wearing his full suit underneath the cloak as they look very similar to the previously released concept art. Johnson has been teasing the reveal of his Black Adam costume for the last few days, with a previous post revealing the smallest peek at the gold symbol on his chest. With this most recent update, it's possible DC or Johnson could reveal the suit in all its glory soon.
