The trailer teaser for Edgar Wright's Last Night in Soho reveals the first footage from the eagerly anticipated '60s horror flick. As Wright's first feature film since 2017's hit Baby Driver, Last Night in Soho was poised to be one of the most talked-about movies of last year. However, the coronavirus pandemic had to delay it more than once, with it moving most recently to October 22, 2021. Though there is still uncertainty regarding the stability of movie theaters right now, Last Night in Soho is currently set to be a part of a jam-packed fall schedule.

Last Night in Soho boasts an impressive cast, led by The Queen's Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy. She'll be joined by Thomasin McKenzie (Jojo Rabbit), Matt Smith, Jessie Mei Li (Shadow and Bone), and Terence Stamp. It will also feature the last onscreen appearance of the late Diana Rigg, who passed away last fall. Most plot details for Last Night in Soho are being kept under wraps, though it's been confirmed it centers on an aspiring fashion designer who is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s, where she meets her idol, an wannabe singer.

Ahead of Tuesday's release of the full Last Night in Soho trailer, the first bit of footage from the film has arrived online (via Focus Features). The teaser doesn't reveal much about the story, instead focusing entirely on shots of Taylor-Joy's Sandy. The clip is also bookended by shots of McKenzie falling asleep, then waking up with a gasp. Check it out below.

As seen with Baby Driver and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Wright has a knack for striking visuals and aesthetics. The short glimpse of Last Night in Soho shown above fits in that lane for him, though this project already feels different from his previous efforts. Its darker, unsettling tone stands out, and it looks like he'll make great use of the Soho location. In short, this is new territory for the beloved director, and it will be thrilling to see it come to life.

Audiences will get a full look at Last Night in Soho when the entire trailer debuts on Tuesday. Even without knowing what the trailer will entail, one almost hopes the plot still remains mostly a mystery. Last Night in Soho looks like it will feature some exciting twists, and it would be a shame to get them spoiled so far out from its release. Perhaps the trailer will instead show more of the cast and hint at how they all come together, since the teaser really only focuses on Taylor-Joy and McKenzie separately. There's still much to uncover about Last Night in Soho, but this first peek is pretty exciting.
