A new image from James Gunn's The Suicide Squad has been revealed showing Bloodsport, King Shark, Peacemaker, and Polka-Dot Man arriving at a mysterious beach location at night. Following the events of the 2016 box office hit, the film centers on the titular squad of villains, including several new members, as they are sent to the fictional island of Corto Maltese to destroy a Nazi-era prison and laboratory and face off against the forces at the heart of it. The ensemble cast includes Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Peter Capaldi, and Sylvester Stallone.

David Ayer's 2016 predecessor alienated critics and most audiences but its box office success sparked Warner Bros.' interest to keep the franchise going with multiple spin-offs and sequels. While multiple fell through, including a Joker and a Harley Quinn spin-off with Robbie and Jared Leto reprising their roles, the Robbie-led Birds of Prey did get off the ground to critical success and Gunn was finally tapped to write and direct a proper Suicide Squad follow-up. Though no sequel is currently in the works for Birds of Prey, Gunn is already establishing a potential future for himself in the DC Extended Universe with the Cena-starring Peacemaker HBO Max series and a possible future Harley project.

As part of Fandango's Summer 2021 Movie Preview, a new image was revealed for the latest installment in the DCEU showing a handful of the Task Force X members arriving on a beach at night. Though the exact location of the image is currently unknown, the story is set on the island of Corto Maltese. The new still can be viewed below:

The new image may not offer audiences much in the way of what they can expect from the story, but it does offer a few hints of threads that can be drawn from past stills and trailers. With Starro as one of the central villains for the film, it's pretty clear at this point there will be plenty of oceanside action happening throughout the film, but with nighttime footage showing all team members alive and fighting, the new image seems to point towards it coming early in the film. But, with certain stills showing Peacemaker, Bloodsport, Polka-Dot Man, and Ratcatcher 2 together without King Shark, this image does seem to indicate that the fish-human hybrid may become separated or venture off from his group, though why he would is anyone's guess.

While fans may have a number of questions racing through their mind about the image and the film itself, the only real question on everyone's minds is just who will survive. Gunn has gotten a real kick out of keeping viewers guess as to who will meet their maker by the end of The Suicide Squad and with every new bit of footage showing certain characters less and less, his promise of almost every character dying seems to be true. Fans will have to wait and see when the film finally hits theaters and HBO Max in August.
