Loki season 2 is officially a go at Marvel Studios as announced in the recently-released season 1 finale. Tom Hiddleston's MCU journey continues on the small screen, as he's tipped to reprise the role of the God of Mischief when the series returns for its sophomore outing.

The third MCU show for Disney+, the events of Loki were kickstarted after the trickster escapes with the Tesseract during the botched New York-leg of Avengers: Endgame's time heist. He was quickly arrested, however, by the Time Variance Authority/TVA — an organization that supposedly manages the correct flow of time. Instead of quickly being pruned for deviating from his pre-determined path, he was tapped by Agent Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson) to help their mission hunt down a rogue Loki variant, Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino). However, Loki and Sylvie decide to team-up instead to hunt down the being behind the TVA after they discovered that the Time-Keepers do not actually exist.

Towards the end of Loki season 1, there's a clear set-up for more stories. But, the confirmation that Loki season 2 will happen didn't come until the post-credits scene which features the God of Mischief's  TVA form being stamped with "LOKI WILL RETURN IN SEASON 2."

This makes Loki the only MCU show thus far to score a renewal. WandaVision has already been confirmed to be a limited series, while The Falcon and the Winter Soldier awaits any news for a potential season 2. That said, this isn't exactly surprising. Coming into the Hiddleston-led series, Marvel Studios has been open about the potential for Loki's narrative to run through multiple seasons. Now that the season 1 finale is out, it all makes sense. For context, after Jonathan Majors' He Who Remains has been found, Sylvie forces the God of Mischief back into the TVA. But, instead of the one he was previously in, he was transported to a different version of the same organization — one where Kang the Conqueror openly manages the bureau.

The question now is when Loki season 2 will debut. Looking at the current Marvel Studios slate, it is stacked both on the big and small screen, until at least 2023. With that, it might be tricky to slot in the return of the recently-concluded show. Another factor to consider is the involvement of Kang the Conqueror (and all his variants) in other projects. Thus far, he's only confirmed to appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania as the primary villain, but he could also pop up elsewhere, especially if they have anything to do with the unleashing of the multiverse at the end of Loki season 1.
