Indiana Jones 5 Set Photo: First Look At Phoebe Waller-Bridge's Costume

Indiana Jones 5 set photo reveals Phoebe Waller-Bridge in full 1960s costume. Harrison Ford returns to play the intrepid archaeologist and adventurer one more time in the fifth Indiana Jones film. He won’t have Steven Spielberg at the helm this time however, as James Mangold takes over directorial duties.

Of course everyone involved with Indiana Jones 5 is doing their best to keep story details about the film under wraps. But recent set leaks have given fans some clues not only about the time periods in which the film is set but also what goes down in the story. It’s already become clear that Indiana Jones 5 takes place in both the World War 2 era, with Nazis returning to once again be the bad guys, and the 1960s. Recent images leaked from the film’s Glasgow, Scotland shooting location also revealed that the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing somehow plays a part in the film.

Now another new leak from the Glasgow location has given away a few details about Indiana Jones 5 star Waller-Bridge. People ran the picture, which shows the Fleabag actress decked out in a very 1960s costume complete with John Lennon-style round sunglasses, confirming that her character appears in scenes set during that decade (and is perhaps a Beatles fan).

The image featured by People was not taken during shooting of any action for the movie so there’s nothing spoilery about it. It merely shows Waller-Bridge, very clearly in full costume, walking to the Glasgow location along with an assistant or crew member. The other people in the shot appear to just be pedestrians milling about on the Glasgow street when no filming is going on, though in the background can be glimpsed what appears to be a 1960s-era taxi cab, no doubt obtained for the film. It was revealed in a previous Indiana Jones 5 leak that some Glasgow shop fronts have been dressed to appear like 1969 New York, for a sequence that perhaps recreates the ticker tape parade for returning Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins.

It remains to be seen what role the moon landing plays in Indiana Jones 5 and how Waller-Bridge’s character figures into things. Going by her costume, Waller-Bridge seems to be playing someone who is very much into the counter-culture scene in 1969, if she's not a full-on hippie. Given Indiana Jones’ presumed age by 1969, there could be some fun cross-generational banter between the long-in-the-tooth archaeologist and a young, hip female protagonist (or antagonist, come to that). There’s always a chance of course that Waller-Bridge plays a relation of Indiana Jones’ or maybe even one of his kids. It would however be hard to see the movie casting Waller-Bridge as a love interest for Jones considering the huge age gap between the actress and Ford. Given Waller-Bridge’s past work on shows like Fleabag, it’s highly likely that in Indiana Jones 5 she plays a smart and humorous character who is more than a match for Indy. She's also quite fashionable, at least going by the new image.
