WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for Loki episode 6.

Loki finally confirms one of the most popular fan theories, showing the God of Mischief unleashing the Multiverse of Madness on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the Loki finale, Tom Hiddleston's Loki and Sophia Di Martino's Lady Loki infiltrate the mysterious Citadel at the End of Time from Loki episode 5. Inside is none other than He Who Remains, a variant of Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conqueror. Lady Loki, who of course goes by Sylvie, wants to kill Kang immediately, but the mastermind behind the Time Variance Authority offers them a deal to take over for him.

Kang explains everything in the Loki finale. A Kang variant lived in the 31st century and discovered that universes were stacked on top of his own. At the same time, other Kang variants were learning that too. The variants then made contact with one another, and there was a momentary peace. The Kangs used the best of their universes to improve the other ones. However, some of the Kangs wanted to conquer the new worlds. A war broke out across the MCU's Multiverse and almost annihilated everything. To stop the war, the 31st century Kang harnessed the power of the cloud-monster Alioth, created the TVA, and isolated the Sacred Timeline. According to him, it's the only way to keep order and prevent another war.

The Loki finale verifies fan theories saying the show would result in the Multiverse. According to He Who Remains, an infinite amount of Kang variants will start another Multiverse war if he dies. He asks Sylvie and Loki to take his place running things, but Sylvie doesn't buy it. She sends Loki to an alternate version of the TVA and plunges a blade into the Kang variant's chest. With the act, the timelines diverge past the point of no return, and the Loki variant unleashes the Multiverse of Madness on the MCU.

The Disney+ Marvel series hinted all along that the God of Mischief would bring about the Multiverse. Early on in the show, the TVA confirmed that there's a point where nexus events, a.k.a. variations from the Sacred Timeline, can't be reset. This point of no return almost happens in Loki episode 4 when Loki and Sylvie touch hands. The act nearly sends the timeline into chaos and suggests that multiple Loki variants working together are too much for the Sacred Timeline to handle. All of this, along with Loki head writer Michael Waldron also writing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness script, seemed to make the Multiverse inevitable.

The Loki finale's ending changes the MCU forever. Like all of the different Loki variants in the series, multiple versions of Marvel characters can now appear together. Storylines can be infinitely revisited, and characters that are gone, such as Chris Evans' Captain America or Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man, can come back at any point. This also paves the way for Marvel to crossover with movies outside of the MCU. Loki variants are all about chaos, and they just released it on the whole Marvel universe.

Loki releases new episodes every Wednesday on Disney+.
