Dune Character Posters Highlight Star-Studded Cast

New character posters for Dune show off the entire cast in character. The adaptation of Frank Herbert's seminal science fiction novel has faced a long road to the big screen, but it is finally set to hit theaters this October. Dune has long been thought to be unadaptable, but that did not deter director Denis Villeneuve from trying. The film will follow Timothée Chalamet's Paul Atreides, son of Duke Leto Atreides (Oscar Isaac) as their house leaves the planet of Caladan to take stewardship over the dangerous and barren planet Dune. The planet is home to the coveted spice melange, the source of much of the Empire's power.

Dune is only adapting the first half of the novel, much to fan's chagrin. In addition to Chalamet and Isaac, the film has a veritable cast of Hollywood heavy weights that will occupy this strange sci-fi world. Rebecca Ferguson will play Lady Jessica Atreides, wife of Leto and mother of Paul, while Zendaya will play Chani, a Fremen from the planet Dune and Paul's love interest. Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Jason Momoa, Chang Chen, and Javier Bardem also star.

Now, new character posters have been released showing off the cast in costume (via Dune News). Skarsgård's poster as the Baron Harkonnen highlights his villainous role while Chalamet looks on with a serious face, teasing his eventual role as the leader of the Fremen people. The rest of the cast can be seen in their posters with their unique costumes, hinting at each character's function and fate in the upcoming movie.

Dune is already one of the most highly anticipated films of the year and it seems like Warner Bros. is gearing up for the film's promotional cycle after all these months. In addition to the new posters, Dune's second trailer is coming soon and a new IMAX event clip showed off previously unseen footage from the film. Additionally, ahead of the wide release of the film, Dune will premiere at the Venice International Film Festival on September 3, giving audiences and fans an idea of what's in store for the film.

With such a vast sci-fi world to explore, it's no surprise that Villeneuve is adapting only the first half of the book in the upcoming film. Dune's first trailer hinted at where the film may cut off, showing the chaos as House Atreides faces off against House Harkonnen on the desert planet and sending Paul and Lady Jessica into the dangerous sandworm infested landscape. With a few short months to go until the film is released, expect more Dune images, videos, and posters to trickle out as Warner Bros. continues to ramp up anticipation for the long-awaited blockbuster.
