Nintendo Switch Online Members Can Play Among Us for Free This Week

Among Us has shared a ton of big news regarding the social deduction game throughout 2021 so far, whether that's the unveiling of its Airship map that launched earlier this year or the announcement that the game will officially be coming to PlayStation and Xbox. However, it seems the game's latest slice of news is more leaned towards those who haven't experienced Among Us before, with Nintendo revealing it's looking to give its players an opportunity to try out the game for no additional cost.

Posted over on the company's Twitter account, Nintendo revealed that Switch Online members will be getting a free trial of Among Us soon, allowing them to enjoy the game for a whole week. The free stint will begin on Wednesday, July 21, at 10:00 AM PT and conclude on July 27 at 11:59 PM PT.

Of course, players wanting to get in on this free stint will have to become a member of Nintendo Switch Online, which is currently available to subscribe to for $3.99 a month, $7.99 for three months, or $19.99 for a year. Joining the service will allow them to play Switch games online as well as access various bonuses, including a playable library of retro classics and other game trials.

Those who enjoy their time with Among Us will also be able to buy the game for a cheaper price, with Nintendo confirming they'll get 30% off. The discount will be available alongside the start of the trial on Wednesday but will stick around for a little longer, officially leaving Nintendo's store on August 1 at 11:59 PM PT. With the game's standard price sitting at $5, it will mean players can grab a copy of Among Us for $3.50.

It seems they'll be able to look forward to plenty of content going forward too, with InnerSloth already promising a host of updates for Among Us in the months to come. The biggest of these is the addition of new roles, which will implement extra depth to the social deduction experience. While players currently are separated into crewmates and impostors, they'll soon have to deal with sheriffs, scientists, and other new positions with their own objectives and abilities.

On top of that, another new map is on the way, as well as a Hide and Seek mode. The latter will see the impostors hunt down crewmates, who have to hide across Among Us' various maps in an effort to not be caught. It's become a popular player-made mode amongst the game's community and now it seems the developers wants to turn it into an official game type.

Among Us is out now on Mobile, PC, and Switch, with PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X versions currently in development. Its free trial will be available for Nintendo Switch Online members between July 21 - July 27.
