The God of War series has been one of PlayStation’s most iconic franchises since it debuted in 2005, and the reboot in 2018 raised the bar for what could be accomplished by a dedicated and skilled game development team. Winning numerous video game awards, God of War 2018 also inspired the creativity of artists the world over, from God of War cosplayers to painters to tattoo artists.

Even wrestlers have gotten in on the fun, with many in recent years cosplaying as their favorite video game characters for matches. Recently, wrestler Vertvixen sported a costume inspired by Kratos, which even included a toy version of the Ghost of Sparta’s signature Blades of Chaos, when she participated in the all-women Mission Pro Wrestling event titled "Keep 'Em Talkin'."

On Reddit, a God of War fan going by the name of mitniftus shared images of their impressive leg sleeve tattoo, which took nearly two years to complete. Created by artist Evan Olin at a shop in Rhode Island, the sleeve encompasses the entirety of mitniftus’ left leg, from groin to ankle.

The piece is composed of a montage of some of the game’s most memorable characters, as well as a portion of the cover art depicting Kratos as he stands in a boat holding the Leviathan Axe with a snow-covered mountain looming in the background. Above that, on the outer part of the leg, is a detailed depiction of Kratos’ face. On the inner leg is an image of the eye of Jörmungandr, the World Serpent; the dwarf merchant Brok; and an ogre enemy. On the back of the leg are the faces of Atreus, Kratos’ son, and a troll enemy.

In the Reddit comments, mitniftus expresses his happiness with the completed work, stating, “I feel like I have a painting on my leg” and “I’m still amazed every time I look down.” But this incredibly detailed work of art isn’t the only homage mitniftus has paid to a favored game franchise. In the images, parts of mitniftus’ right leg can also be seen, covered with an equally elaborate sleeve of The Legend of Zelda artwork. Despite commenters’ requests, the Redditor hasn’t yet shared closer images of that tattoo.

Another God of War fan also recently posted images of a leg tattoo on Reddit, this one of Mimir’s head on their calf. LiamThawne’s monochromatic tattoo features more stylized art than mitniftus’ leg sleeve, but is equally as detailed, with white highlighting and a bright touch of yellow to draw attention to the single glowing eye of the faerie.

God of War is available on PS4 and PS5 via backward compatibility.
