The first trailer for Zack Snyder's Army of Thieves has arrived. Once Snyder's days with the DC Extended Universe were seemingly over, the director began working with Netflix to develop several new projects. The first to emerge was 2021's Army of the Dead, a zombie-heist movie starring Dave Bautista that became one of Netflix's biggest hits. The success of Army of the Dead was expected, with Netflix and Snyder already working on an animated prequel show and a live-action prequel movie titled Army of Thieves.

The prequel movie features the return of Matthias Schweighöfer, whose character Ludwig Dieter became a fan-favorite part of Army of the Dead's ensemble. Schweighöfer is also serving as the director of Army of Thieves, with Snyder working on the film as a producer. Interest in the movie greatly increased following Snyder's first entry in this new zombie franchise, and Netflix answered the bell on that front by revealing the first Army of Thieves images not too long ago. More looks at the movie were promised, though, and have now arrived.

As part of Comic-Con@Home 2021, Netflix hosted a virtual panel for Army of Thieves featuring Schweighöfer, fellow cast member Nathalie Emmanuel, and producers Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, and Wesley Coller. Near the end of the panel, Schweighöfer was able to unveil the first teaser trailer for Army of Thieves. Check it out below:

The Army of Thieves trailer makes it abundantly clear that this movie is quite different from Army of the Dead. For starters, there might not be any zombies in the movie itself other than what is shown on the news. It also doesn't waste much time reminding viewers that it is a prequel and shows Nathalie Emmanuel's character recruiting Dieter for a heist before he'll journey to America. The two of them appear to spend a lot of time together in Army of Thieves too, with Emmanuel and Schweighöfer even sharing a kiss near the end.

Now that the first footage and new details about Army of Thieves have been revealed, it hopefully won't be too long before the movie itself arrives on Netflix. The trailer promises plenty of action and even some humor, as fans of Army of the Dead will get even more time with Dieter now. It also appears that this could be a nice role for Nathalie Emmanuel to show her abilities to lead an action movie. The rest of the cast doesn't get too much time to shine in the trailer, but Army of Thieves still looks quite promising early on and like a fun continuation of Snyder's zombie universe.
