New Black Adam fan art imagines Dwayne Johnson’s anti-hero fighting a giant Atom Smasher. Fans have been waiting to see Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson suit up as the superhero for several years now, as the casting was announced nearly a decade ago. Johnson was first attached to play Black Adam in Shazam!, but he will now be getting a solo outing instead. After this announcement came in 2017, script rewrites ensued, followed by the COVID-19 pandemic, both of which delayed the film’s timeline significantly.

After a long and challenging road, Johnson finally announced a little over a week ago that Black Adam has finished filming ahead of its release date next summer. The Justice Society of America will also be getting its introduction to the DCEU, including Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate, and Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher. With so few plot details available, it’s unclear if the JSA will play an adversarial role or not.

With a year to go until Black Adam’s debut in theaters, the artist known as Datrintiart on Instagram is here to make the wait a little more bearable. The latest Black Adam fan art imagines Dwayne Johnson as the titular anti-hero in a fistfight with an enlarged Atom Smasher. In the caption, the artist expressed their excitement for seeing Teth-Adam in action, the character's original name, during his time as a slave from Kahndaq. Check out the fan art below:

Black Adam received another piece of intriguing fan art from the same artist earlier this month, which imagined The Rock’s anti-hero facing off against Henry Cavill’s Superman in the DCEU. Since the odds of Cavill reprising his role in the DCEU are pretty slim at this point, Datrintiart’s latest piece imagines a much more likely scenario. With plot details under wraps, it can likely be assumed that Atom Smasher and the JSA will act as Black Adam’s rivals in the film.

Also known as Al Rothstein in the comics, Atom Smasher can control his molecular structure, thus manipulating his size and strength. While this may give him a size advantage over Black Adam, the anti-hero's level of strength can be equated to Superman’s, making him a worthy adversary against the super-sized Atom Smasher. It’s unclear if the film will interpret these powers in the same way, but this showdown could very likely become a reality when Black Adam debuts next year.
