Krispy Kreme is offering up a sweet new Xbox-themed donut, along with the chance to win a free Series S console. Food franchise tie-ins are nothing new in the world of video games, with KFC leading the charge thanks to its bizarre Kentucky Fried Console, which can supposedly play games and keep fried chicken warm at the same time. The release date for this dubious poultry device is unknown, however, and there is still a chance that it's simply a bizarre marketing stunt.

Xbox, meanwhile, has previously partnered up with companies like Monster Energy, Trident Gum, and Taco Bell to promote its latest Series X console, as well as upcoming games like the infamously delayed Halo: Infinite. Meanwhile, rival Sony joined forces with Burger King in the months leading up to the launch of the PlayStation 5, offering up free consoles with a two-for-five meal – as well as teasing the new system’s start-up sound and the size of the box it comes in.

Now Krispy Kreme is getting into the video game cross-promotion business with the reveal of its new Xbox-themed donuts called “Nexus Level”, which are frosted with the Xbox logo. The popular breakfast chain’s UK branch unveiled these delicious new pastries in a tongue-in-cheek video on Twitter earlier today, which toted the Xbox donut’s “ergonomic form,” “instant sharing capabilities that are bringing people together,” and “bold yet simple graphics with a dramatic pop of color.” Krispy Kreme is also holding a special contest for customers to win a free Xbox Series S along with a month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate from August 2nd to the 22nd. Both the Nexus Level Donuts and the Xbox Series X giveaway are said to be coming soon.

So far, the Xbox Series X/S has managed to become the fastest-selling Xbox console ever, even in the face of ongoing shortages due to scalpers and the COVID 19 pandemic ever since it first launched back in November. As far as software is concerned, Microsoft is branching out to set up new Xbox studios in countries like India and South America, and Xbox’s recent livestream presentation during June’s E3 featured several upcoming titles from in-house developers like the recently-acquired Bethesda.

Krispy Kreme’s new Xbox-themed “Nexus Level” donuts look delicious, and the famous white-and-green “X” logo translates pretty well to an iced, round pastry. These donuts could probably make for a good snack during early-morning gaming sessions, especially with Krispy Kreme and Xbox offering up free Series S consoles and Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions next month.
