House of Gucci movie character posters highlight Jared Leto’s latest ridiculous transformation. Ridley Scott directed House of Gucci, an adaptation of the book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed by Sara Gay Forden.

House of Gucci indeed sounds like a sensational story involving plenty of murder, madness and glamour – making it quite reminiscent of Scott’s 2017 film All the Money in the World. Set in 1995, Scott's latest stars Lady Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani, who was tried and convicted of plotting to murder her ex-husband, Gucci fashion house head Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver). An all-star cast is lined up behind the leads, including Leto as Paolo Gucci, Al Pacino as Aldo Gucci, Jeremy Irons as Rodolfo Gucci and Salma Hayek as Giuseppina "Pina" Auriemma.

Most of the above-mentioned main cast members are indeed featured in a new release of House of Gucci character posters. The stand-out image among the posters has to be the one featuring Leto, who has once again radically transformed his appearance. The other actors don’t look much different from their normal selves, though they're definitely glammed up for Scott’s thriller which has been described as a "tragic high-end soap opera." See the posters in the space below:

Leto of course first gained fame for playing the puppy-dog-eyed heartthrob Jordan Catalano in the ‘90s TV series My So-Called Life. Indeed, much of what Leto has done acting-wise in the decades since that breakthrough role seems to have been about him shedding his image as a handsome teen idol. Leto first went full Method by getting in running shape to play famous athlete Steve Prefontaine in Prefontaine. He then went unhealthy by shedding pounds to play a strung-out junkie in Darren Aronofsky’s Requiem for a Dream. Perhaps his most alarming transformation was achieved when he gained weight to play John Lennon assassin Mark David Chapman in Chapter 27. Leto then put his body through hell again to play an HIV-positive trans woman in Dallas Buyers Club, for which he won an Oscar. More recently, Leto angered some DC fans with his “gansta Joker” look in Suicide Squad, and executed a more traditional scuzzing up to play a serial killer in The Little Things.

To play Paulo Gucci in House of Gucci, Leto has made himself nearly unrecognizable, sporting a balding head, mustache and wattle. It remains to be seen if Oscar voters will be attracted to Leto’s latest Method acting job, but it’s fair to assume House of Gucci as a whole will be a major contender in the hair and makeup and costume categories when awards season rolls around. Scott of course is a director whose films tend to find themselves in Oscar contention, even when he doesn’t pull off a major coup like replacing an actor at the last minute as he did with All the Money in the World, when controversy over Kevin Spacey forced him to swap in Christopher Plummer with only weeks left until the movie’s release. House of Gucci at the very least should be a feast for the eyes, and a trip for fans who enjoy watching Leto go full Method
