WandaVision alum Kathryn Hahn opens up about her reasons for wanting to star in Rian Johnson's murder mystery sequel Knives Out 2. Having originally found stardom as a supporting performer in a number of comedy films, including How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Anchorman, Hahn has recently enjoyed a large upswing in acclaim on the small screen with Amazon's Transparent, HBO's Mrs. Fletcher and I Know This Much is True. This all culminated with her turn as the villainous Agatha Harkness in the Disney+ Marvel Cinematic Universe series WandaVision, for which she has earned a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie.

Hahn is one of a number of high-profile performers who have joined the cast of Knives Out 2, some of whom include Hahn's How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days co-star Kate Hudson, Jessica Henwick, Ethan Hawke, Edward Norton and Dave Bautista. Johnson's second installment in his murder mystery franchise will see Daniel Craig's eccentric private detective Benoit Blanc get involved in a new case in a new setting. Production for Knives Out 2 began in June and has already reached its halfway point and is moving from Greece to a currently-unknown location.

Hahn caught up with Nylon to discuss her recent Emmy nod for her performance as Agatha in Disney+'s WandaVision. As the conversation shifted to Hahn's upcoming projects, the actress discussed Knives Out 2 and explained her reasoning for wanting to be a part of the sequel, most of which stemmed from a desire to work with Johnson. See what Hahn had to say below:

"Well, I love the ensemble of the first one. I was really turned on by, A) Rian Johnson's filmmaking, B) that he has an impeccable reputation as one of the nicest humans, and C) the ensemble. It just looked like every character was so specific and that it seemed to be a lot of equal ball-passing in a really fun way. It just looked like a blast to be on the set because it looked like there was no ball-hogging — just everybody passing the ball to each other with such generosity. And so far, it seems like the same thing on this one. It’s a really delightful, beautiful ensemble."

With a cast that included household names such as Craig, Chris Evans and Jamie Lee Curtis as well as on-the-rise talent Ana de Armas, Jaeden Martell and Katherine Langford, one could be forgiven for believing at least one star may try and make a bigger impression than the others. But, much to the truth of Hahn's feelings, the ensemble of the first Knives Out largely worked due to their ability to play off of one another. Additionally, while the film marked Johnson's largest in terms of the cast, the filmmaker has proven a consistent ability to balance his roster of characters and never was it more evident than in the first film.

One of the more exciting feelings Hahn expressed in her discussion for Knives Out 2 is that the set of the sequel is right in line with her expectations from the first film. With Johnson still at the helm, fans haven't had many doubts the sequel would carry a lesser feeling than its predecessor, but to hear Hahn confirm the same level of fun and collaboration is still felt on set for the new film is sure to raise audiences' anticipation for the film. Only time will tell what Johnson and his crew have in store when the film arrives on Netflix sometime next year.
