Doctor Strange Uses the Darkhold to Fix the Multiverse in New MCU Fan Art

A new piece of fan art features Doctor Strange studying multiple universes to fix the Sacred Timeline. The multiverse was long believed to be the main focus of Phase 4's story, with the Doctor Strange sequel being titled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Kang the Conqueror announced as the villain of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Disney+'s MCU shows then gave an even better idea of what is in store for Phase 4’s structure.

Early rumors for WandaVision indicated that the show might be set in an alternate timeline to allow for Vision’s return. That turned out to not be the case, with Wanda using Chaos Magic to recreate Vision as a way to cope with his death in Avengers: Infinity War. The end of the series showed Scarlet Witch studying the Darkhold before flying off to find her two sons she created in Westview. After a more grounded story with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki jumped back into the stranger side of the MCU. Loki’s series finale showed Sylvie murdering He Who Remains, resulting in the Sacred Timeline fracturing and creating multiple realities.

Doctor Strange is believed to be the one to pick up the pieces of Wanda, Sylvie, and Loki’s actions, and a new piece of fan art depicts just that. From top to bottom, spdrmnkyxxiii's artwork shows Strange watching both versions of Vision interacting, Wanda becoming the Scarlet Witch, Loki and Sylvie approaching He Who Remains' citadel, Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Mans teaming up, and the introductions of Daredevil, the Fantastic Four, Doctor Doom, and Kang. The top section of the art are scenes directly from WandaVision and Loki, but everything else is the artist's interpretation of what future MCU projects could look like. Kang will clearly play a big part in Phase 4, and Marvel head Kevin Feige confirmed at San-Diego Comic-Con 2019 that the Fantastic Four would eventually join the MCU. With Doctor Doom being the team’s most famous villain, he will likely be included in the first movie or one of its sequels. Lastly, Daredevil has already been introduced to the MCU via Netflix’s Marvel show, although the series never made any connections to the larger MCU. However, rumors have been floating around that Charlie Cox’s Daredevil may return in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

By the time Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness comes out in 2022, it’s likely the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom will not have been introduced yet. Daredevil has better odds of appearing first if Marvel intends to bring back Cox’s character since audiences are already familiar with him. After all, there is virtually no information on Fantastic Four, including a release date, and Marvel could be saving Doctor Doom to be the next big bad of the franchise. Regardless of Marvel’s plan, spdrmnkyxxiii’s art is a good visualization of things Doctor Strange might have to deal with while repairing the Sacred Timeline. Getting a scene of Strange viewing multiple realities could even be an interesting way to introduce new characters, showing a quick glimpse of characters to come.
