Halo's Legendary Announcer Speaks Up For Trans Rights In Cameo

Halo's iconic multiplayer announcer, Jeff Steitzer, shared a very special message about trans rights in a Cameo video. Halo is known for a lot of things such as its iconic protagonist, its incredible music, and of course, the legendary multiplayer announcer. Steitzer has played the announcer since the start of the series and has become a mainstay across ever mainline entry in the series and now, Stetizer has found ways to leverage the voice outside of the series.

Cameo is an app where fans can pay celebrities to send a personalized message to them for various reasons such as birthdays or other occasions. Steitzer is no stranger to the app as he used his Halo voice to read Destiny 2 dialogue amongst many other things, clearly playing into the iconic nature of his voice. In yet another Cameo, Steitzer used the app as a way to spread a message and share kind words with a fan.

Twitter user Tanis shared a Cameo from Steitzer, who shared a message about trans rights. On top of simply saying "trans rights" in his Halo voice, Steitzer also shared empathy with those fighting for equality after seeing decades of marginalized people battling oppression. Needless to say, many were touched and happy to see such a hopeful and inspiring message being spread by one of the most recognizable voices in gaming. Steitzer will be returning in Halo Infinite, so it's not hard to imagine his Cameo seeing more requests and traffic in the months leading up to the game's release.

Steitzer makes a lot of excellent points regarding the struggle of trans people, noting how he's nearly 70 and has seen many groups struggle for equality for years, which is why he did much more than put on his Halo voice and limit himself to the requested line. Xbox even replied to the tweet agreeing with his message. Steitzer was able to share a powerful message both using his more traditional voice, while also topping it off with his famous Halo-inspired flair.

Fans already got a taste of Stetizer's voice during the Halo Infinite tech test, but there's seemingly more to be heard. Fans discovered a voice recording of the announcer saying the words "battle royale," seemingly indicating Halo Infinite will have a battle royale included in the game. Whether or not this is the case, Jeff Steitzer's Cameo performance remains a touching message for fans of his voice and Halo.
