Astro and Timbuk2 Partner for Bag Collection Geared Towards Gamers

One of the best things about modern gaming is how much more portable the hobby has become. Thanks to new consoles like the Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Steam Deck, it's far easier for enthusiasts to take their hardware with them on the go. Of course, there are still some drawbacks, as few bags are custom-tailored to carrying gaming hardware around. Astro Gaming and Timbuk2 are looking to rectify this with a new line of bags.

The companies are partnering to create a new Timbuk2 x Astro line, which features two distinct designs for on-the-go gamers. The first looks like a traditional backpack with additional space for headsets and gaming hardware. Dubbed the BP35 Gaming Backpack, it's water-resistant and features padded pockets to mitigate the risk of scratches while out and about. The full-size backpack also features two 16" laptop sleeves, as well as space designed to hold one of Astro's gaming headsets.

Meanwhile, the CS03 Crossbody Sling is specifically designed with Nintendo Switch players in mind. It's smaller than the BP35 Gaming Backpack, but sports some of the same features, specifically the padded pockets and water resistance. Additionally, there are 14 slots in the Crossbody Sling meant to fit game cartridges and SSD cards, making it a bit easier to port around a library of physical games.

Both options have their own distinct set of pros and cons, so those that are considering a new bag should keep in mind their specific needs. The Nintendo Switch is a perfect system for traveling with, but the larger BP35 Gaming Backpack sounds a bit more versatile than its smaller counterpart for those that need something functional. Pinning down a good backpack does take a fair bit of research, though.

Both backpacks are currently available to order from Timbuk2's website. The BP35 Gaming Backpack is available for $199, while the CS03 goes for $79. Both options are covered under Timbuk2's lifetime warranty, which does make the price tag sting a bit less. Of course, the traveling situation is a bit messy globally right now, though the bags will undoubtedly be more useful as things return to normal.

It can be difficult to find solid gaming accessories, but partnerships like this one are useful for expanding options. It seems that gamers are starting to see gaming companies step out of their comfort zones a bit more, so maybe more gaming collaborations will pop up in the future.
