The official soundtrack for the horror film Candyman is gearing up for a vinyl release. The direct sequel to the 1992 slasher flick, directed by Nia DaCosta, is making its in-theater debut this weekend. The film, based on Clive Barker's short story "The Forbidden," follows Anthony McCoy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), a struggling visual artist who uses the supernatural killer with a hook for a hand as his latest inspiration. The Candyman is summoned by saying his name five times into a mirror and while McCoy wants to incorporate the legend into his art, it comes with some sinister consequences.

Waxwork Records revealed on Twitter that the original motion picture soundtrack for the film, composed by Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, will be available on vinyl this weekend. The soundtrack has a total of 34 tracks, including songs by Sammy Davis Jr., Ravyn Lenae, Fiona Apple, and more. The 2xLP will cost $45 and features a colorful (and nightmare-inducing) cover.

Part of Candyman's downright blood-chilling appeal is the use of its music to cause suspense. So die-hard horror fans might be eager to add this record to their vinyl collection. The soundtrack is also available in CD form and on streaming across all platforms.

The cult horror classic was announced in 2020 by Get Out director Jordan Peele, who serves as a writer on the film. The sequel revisits the legend by not only giving it a new origin story but also incorporating social issues into the plot. The old Chicago projects once haunted by the monster have been torn down and have been totally gentrified. But with McCoy summoning the killer to be his muse, he unleashes the horrifying new age of Candyman into Chicago, and into movie theaters.
