Disney+ Day To Have 11 Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar NatGeo & Disney Premieres

Global event Disney+ Day will feature 11 debuts from Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, The Simpsons, NatGeo, and more. Disney+ launched on November 12th, 2019, and has quickly become a go-to streaming service for new and old favorites from the studio. After acquiring 20th Century Fox, Disney added even more IP to their already impressive roster, helping to drive up numbers for their streaming service, which now accounts for 116 million subscribers and growing. The service features everything from Marvel to Star Wars to The Simpsons and more, including a massive library of their new and classic animated films.

Netflix continues to be the largest streaming platform with 200 million subscribers, with Amazon Prime just behind them. However, Disney+ is growing at a steady rate and continues to grow in popularity due largely to their exclusive content, especially for their Marvel and Star Wars brands. Original reality and documentary content is also a big sell for Disney+ with shows from NatGeo and Disney Nature, including The World According to Jeff Goldblum. Disney also owns Hulu, which accounts for a majority of their more adult-oriented entertainment and is similar to their international counterpart, Star.

Today, Disney+ unveiled the global event known as Disney+ Day, which will take place on November 12th, 2021, the anniversary date of their launch. The event will feature a number of new debuts, previews, first-looks, and specials that will air throughout the special day, giving subscribers a chance to see what's ahead, while also enjoying some of the newer content the service has to offer. Feature debuts will include the streaming releases of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Jungle Cruise, and Home Sweet Home Alone, while a number of specials and shorts from The Simpsons, Pixar, and Disney Animation will also be shown. Both Marvel and Star Wars will also have specials that celebrate their upcoming slate, including a Boba Fett special. Take a look below for the full roster of Disney+ Day events and debuts:

The streaming premiere of Marvel Studios’ “Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings”

The beloved Disney family-friendly adventure film “Jungle Cruise,” available to all subscribers

The new Disney+ Original movie “Home Sweet Home Alone,” a reimagining of the popular holiday franchise

An all-new original series of shorts from Walt Disney Animation Studios called “Olaf Presents,” which sees Frozen’s beloved snowman retelling several classic Disney tales as only he can

The domestic Disney+ streaming debut of fan favorite shorts from Walt Disney Animation Studios including “Frozen Fever,” Oscar®-winning shorts “Feast” and ''Paperman,” Oscar-nominated Mickey Mouse short, “Get A Horse!” and more

An animated short film “Ciao Alberto” from Pixar, featuring characters from this summer’s animated hit breakout film “Luca”

A new short from The Simpsons that pays tribute to Disney+’s marquee brands

The first five episodes from season 2 of “The World According to Jeff Goldblum” from National Geographic

A special celebrating the origins and legacy of Star Wars’ legendary bounty hunter, Boba Fett

A special celebrating the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney+ with an exciting look towards the future

“Dopesick,” an original series starring Michael Keaton, which will be released in international markets as part of the Star general entertainment content offering

With such a massive slate of projects that continue to pile up and with more and more audiences opting to stream movies from home, rather than rush to the theaters, having a celebratory event like this is a smart move by Disney. Subscribers can see what's in store from the streaming service, especially from their favorite brands, such as Marvel and Star Wars, which account for a tremendous draw to the service. Disney+ has a number of high-profile shows on the way from both franchises and delivering a preview of what to expect is a good way to keep subscribers lined up, while enticing new ones into the fold. The trick, of course, is to get subscribers to have no choice but to stick around or miss out on a plethora of great content. With so much to preview, it seems like Disney+ Day will be one to remember.
