According to Remedy's Communications Director, Thomas Puha, Alan Wake Remastered may boast a connection to other games from the studio's storied history. Remedy previously confirmed that Alan Wake, Quantum Break, and Control all take place in a connected universe.

Much of this became clear to those who paid close attention while exploring Control. The hit 2019 action title is littered with references to Wake and the events, Altered World Events, that haunted the author during his time in Bright Falls. Remedy took things a step further with Control's post-release content, however, deploying a story expansion entitled AWE that explored Alan Wake's connection to Jesse Faden's world more deeply. Given the imminent release of Alan Wake Remastered, questions abound about how else Remedy's different properties may intersect in the grand scheme of things. Apparently, fans could receive a concrete answer in the very near future.

In discussing game preservation as it relates to Alan Wake Remastered's upcoming launch, Stephen Totilo from Axios asked Remedy developer Thomas Puha whether the title will feature connections to the studio's other projects. Puha, of course, wouldn't divulge much in the way of concrete details. However, the Communications Director did offer somewhat of a tease with the following comment: "Definitely pay attention by playing the remaster, is what we’re going to say."

If forthcoming Alan Wake re-release does indeed bear references to the likes of Quantum Break and Control, it would mean Remedy added them while developing the remaster. How exactly Alan Wake may tie things together remains unknown. Theoretically, new entries for Wake's collectible manuscript pages could offer a simple solution in this regard. Who's to say he hasn't endured nightmares about Control's Oldest House or the secret organization within?

Priced at $29.99, Alan Wake Remastered launches in a few short weeks, packing in graphical enhancements, improved character models, and other visual upgrades. Players will also gain access to extras such as "The Signal" and "The Writer" DLCs, as well as audio commentary from writer Sam Lake. Remedy recently confirmed current-gen-specific bonuses, too; for example, on PS5, the remaster will take advantage of the DualSense controller's accouterments. Series X|S players, on the other hand, can look forward to the game's functionality with Xbox Smart Delivery.
