Destiny 2 Players Still Want A Glimmer Cap Increase

As a loot based game, Destiny 2 is filled with different types of currency and materials. In fact, easy season seems to add a new matrial players can use in various ways. For the Season of the Lost, players earn Parallax Trajectory, a material that is used to focus umbral engrams and unlock new perks for the Wayfinder's Compass. At the start of the season, the hard cap of 1,500 was reached very quickly causing issues for players looking to unlock perks and focus umbral engrams. Thankfully, Bungie moved pretty quickly and doubled the cap.

The same can be said for the other currencies of the game. Glimmer has been a standard feature of the franchise since the original Destiny, acting as both a type of money to purchase items from vendors, as well as being neccessary for upgrading gear or buying bounties. It's fairly easy to come by as Glimmer is awarded for just about every action in Destiny 2 from killing enemies, looting chests, and more. However, the major problem that players continue to run into with Glimmer is the hard cap, something fans agree should not exist anymore.

Over on the Destiny 2 subReddit, a user known as riseinflame highlights the Glimmer economy should be changed, especially for those who enjoy resetting the seasonal artifact. Since the reset costs aren't likely to be decreases, riseinflame then suggests that the hard Glimmer cap of 250,000 be increased to 500,000. Not only would the extra glimmer allow players to experiment a bit more with the artifact, but it would reduce the fear of running out of Glimmer and not being able to do some other things like switching mods or buying bounties.

The post has seen a lot of activity, gaining popularity among the community for those agreeing that something needs to change. One user highlights a growing problem that Glimmer costs are either very high at 10,000 or very low at 100, nothing in between. Without any warnings, players can easily run out of Glimmer very quickly after buying the big things in the game, locking them out of simply tasks like switching mods, upgrading gear, or changing character builds. Bungie has increased the Glimmer cap in the past, so it's certainly not out of the question.

Build crafting is a major part of the Destiny 2 experience, potentially moreso in Season of the Lost. Players have been discovering all sorts of powerful builds this season, thanks to the perks that are part of the Wayfinder's Compass. With a focus on Fusion Rifles, the Particle Destruction mod has given certain weapons the ability to deal significant damage. Not only that, with the release of the catalyst for Ager's Scepter, fans have been mixing and matching stasis aspects to create some really interesting builds.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
