A new clip from Don't Look Up sees Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence's astronomers warning Meryl Streep's President of the United States of the impending disaster. Alongside DiCaprio, Lawrence and Streep, the ensemble cast for the film includes Jonah Hill, Rob Morgan, Mark Rylance, Tyler Perry, Ron Perlman, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Scott Mescudi, Cate Blanchett and Chris Evans. The film revolves around two low-level astronomers who discover an approaching comet threatening to destroy planet Earth and must venture on a giant meteor to warn mankind.

Don't Look Up was originally set to reunite Paramount Pictures with Oscar winner Adam McKay following his work on The Big Short when the studio acquired it in late 2019. However, following February would see Netflix pick up the film with Lawrence, for whom McKay wrote the role for, signing on to the film and DiCaprio joining a few months later after tweaking the script with McKay to convince him to sign on. Production was originally set to begin in February 2020 though would be pushed back due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, ultimately getting underway in November and wrapping this past February.

Just two weeks after unveiling the first trailer for the film, Netflix has released a new clip for Don't Look Up as part of its TUDUM virtual event. The clip sees DiCaprio and Lawrence's astronomers pleading with Streep's President of the United States and her Chief of Staff and son, played by Hill, to prepare for the incoming disaster. For those who caught the first trailer for Don't Look Up earlier this month, the scene may play out familiarly as it was one of the cornerstones of said trailer for the arrival of Streep's apocalypse-ambivalent President. That being said, the clip does prove another exciting tease for the film and a sense of the tonal balance audiences unfamiliar with McKay's past work can expect from the film. Between the clear composite satirization of both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in both Streep and Hill's characters to the frayed nerves of DiCaprio's Dr. Randall Mindy as he attempts to deliver the world-threatening news, the video offers a nice glimpse at the darker humor and intense drama to be expected from the film's topic.

The latest clip for Don't Look Up certainly finds McKay treading the delicate tonal tightrope walked to Oscar success with The Big Short and to a polarized reception with Vice. With his latest venture slated for a December release, the film will also be coming just in time for the awards season, creating the possibility for McKay to once again earn Oscar and Golden Globe nods and potentially even bring home a statue or two. Only time will tell when the film hits limited theaters on December 10 and Netflix on Christmas Eve.
